Thats why then,its a built in ballast.it does a little it did from day one is it ok the ballast is built right in the light it is a hydrafarm 400 watt hps.
im using 2 125 watt high spectrum cfls blue,,i hav another red spectrum,, its my first grow,,i was gonna change to hps,,but alot of ppl use cfls and seem to get on ok,,hav you had any probs with themI always use both spectrum's to but i get the blue from fluro tubes and using a dual spectrum bulb.
Plants love both at once all the way through imo and they do much better when they get them both all the way through.
Be careful to cool the hood adequately though
