A few grows back I had a crop of some really strong smelling Skunk plants. It was over whelming. So I went to the bar got the skankiest woman I could find, brought here home and WALLA dropped her panties and Skunk smell was gone.. Now if i could just get rid of this rotten fish smell......

How much for a carbon filter and where can i get one? Do I have to buy a purifier with a carbon filter built in or can i just get a carbon filter?

htgsupply.com and go to odor control. You need a fan to pull air through the filter as well

What happens when you have to much ozone in the airOzone Generators work great. A two story home can have the smell cleared out within 5-10 minutes (on the highest setting). I only use mine when needed. You can also run it continuously at a lower setting so you don't put to much ozone into the air and it will work just as good. I use the Alpine by EcoQuest.

Ozone is a corrosive and can damage rubber items in your house if you have too much (I understand it can damage plants too in high amounts). I used to work at a place where we had to have a lot of ozone in the air and I noticed that it only affected certain rubbers where it touched metal (some rubbers it wouldn't affect at all). I would only use high blasts of ozone in an emergency when needed, otherwise use just enough ozone to keep the odor under control. I'm not saying I know a lot about ozone. This is just my experience.

You can buy Soil Moist Crystals at any gardening center, it is used to mix with soil to hold moisture. ONA ( ODER NUTERALIZING AGENT) can be bought at any hydro shop, online, or at any store that sells baby supplies. You can get carbon filters at any hydro shop or online.

anyone actually built one of these ozone generators? I know they work wonders but I'm wondering how safe they are to use. also, do you have to route a carbon filter outside or can you just let it clean the air in the room?

Yes I built one some time ago. If I recall correctly, I used a 15,000 volt neon sign transformer (or was it 6.5k) a 6"square piece of glass and some 1/4 inch screen on each side of the glass. It put out too much ozone and there was no way to control the output. Let's just put it this way...if your house really stank and you had someone ring the doorbell, you could tell them to hold on, run and turn on the generator I built and go open the door 60 seconds later and all they would have smelled was ozone..nothing else. I'm sure the ozone levels were very dangerous. It was more of an experiment for me to see if I could make ozone. I wasn't trying to kill any smell. Anyways...if you'd like to make a cheap ozone generator, go on ebay and find yourself a neon transformer on ebay for about $25.00 and get a piece of glass from a picture frame and some 1/4 inch screen and you'll make tons of ozone. Oh....and don't touch the wires or screen/glass while the thing is on.

There are similar warning from OSHA, EPA and other government and watchdog agencies. Christ, even grow shops warn you about using ozone correctly - you'd think RIU would do the same.
They are not safe unless you use them properly. Do not, i repeat, do not attempt to build your own ozone generator. They can do a hell of a lot more than damage rubber and anyone working with them should know that.
Either drop the coin on a carbon filter or UL approved ozone generator (and follow the directions) or pull the plants/live with the smell.

Very true...if you were to build one of these ozone generators, its not something that you would want to keep turned on. Sorry, I should have mentioned that. It will put a HUGE dose of ozone in the air! But, in an emergency, it would be great to have laying around ready to turn on and yes...you should read everything you can about ozone before you make one.
