If you scratch them with sand paper be careful. I fucked up a couple of Seeds because I did too much. Shell split in two and embryo was totaly uncovered.
Next time I'll try one of those things my girl uses for her finger nails. Cant remember the english term but ...
She got some very fine ones. I think about tweezers and some magnifiying equipment for the Job.

i have been using tweezers and an exacto knife to play with old seeds that didn't pop.

my newer pre98 bubba kush seeds aren't popping. when i break a seed open, the embryo looks healthy. i took one out of a root riot and dropped it into a 200 ppm solution of GA3.

the next one i try will get more scuffed with sandpaper. currently rolling them around in a tiny plastic jar with 100 grit sandpaper. gonna go more direct on the sandpaper and hope i stop short of the embryo.

i need to do something to get these seeds to pop :wall:

My Hands seem not to be made to work with tweezers that small tricky beans. Most of the time I scratched my fingers instead of the beans.
But tweezers are tricky too. Not a easy task if the seed stock is limited.

I will try to view the loss from that point now...

We can still use/share our viable beans or make/buy some new beans. Whatever there is soooooo much good genetics in our beloved cannabis genpool we dont have to worry.

so far, helping remove the shell has not been successful and working with small seeds and tweezers is not an easy task. in fact, it's very difficult.

i hear you on the sanding. i'm gonna try anyway.







no germinating for my old blue satelite, chronic or chrystal tsunami seeds and new pre98 seeds.

with that said, today my 3rd Durban Poison seed came up :fire:

The name is Dubai Poison at first I was like fuck lmao Dubai f**** what??.... but then I checked charts and it got more than the Sensi Version by the people who judged it on seedfinder. Its cheapo ass bulk seeds brand but I want to check it. I even had great plants from nirvana. And crap from big money Seeds I also had more than once. so I know price tells you nothing. Reputation is more important.

So Congrats for your durbs bro. Looks like durb time for us haha. Hope I aint got an old pack again lmao

i would def check out the dubai poison if i was you. and i agree there are gems in the nirvana stuff. i had an afghani pheno back in 2002-3 from nirvana that was killer. short, stinky and potent.




unfortunately time is running out on the BS, Chronic and CT. by the end of this upcoming weekend i will moving on to sets of seeds.

@Sour Wreck, hey buddy, just found this thread. Very interesting. If all those seeds start popping, you will have a seed tsunami.

I store my seeds in the freezer. In 2015 I popped seeds gifted to me by my BIL that had been in the freezer since 1988. Almost all popped.

I took an 11 year break from smoking and growing starting in 2004. All my seeds were safely stored in a farm freezer. Some where in there a breaker tripped, and it was months before I knew it. I lost all my pre 2004 strains. Well, I still have the seeds, but haven't got any to pop. Last year when I was planting pepper or tomato seeds in trays, I would dump in few weed seeds, just to see if I got any sprouts. None so far.

I plant my seeds in soil. When they pop in a few days, that is great. But I planted some Blue Shiva X Blue Shark X Ass Cheese in October for my Spring crop. One or two came up right away, but I'm still getting sprouts from those seeds. I potted one up last week, even though it will be fucked as far as timing goes. Too early for full seasons {without early flower} and too late to finish in Spring before they reveg.

So don't toss your seeds out. Put them in soil if you think they are not going to do anything. They may come up months later.

I plant everything by the moon signs. Have all my life. Transplanting too, when it works out. You can't always wait on that though. I use this site:

When it says good for above ground, like peas, peppers and tomatoes, that is when I plant my weed. I'm planting garden the 24th and 25th of this month, then planting weed the 24th and 25th of March.

The reference seeds from the 1500ppm did germinate as usual.
So even that dosage wont kill viable Seeds. No difference in Stretch of the tail detected compared to plain water as far as my judgement goes.

So my conclusion is that GA3 dont make a big difference.

The lesson about the freezer above.... we should definitly listen to the man!

I realy expected some more lenghts growth in the tail of the sprouts but there was no difference.

I believe what you describe happens when you spray GA3 on the plants.
There is a pdf on GA3 on grapes in the first year from a university here.
They became more woody stem diameter and lenghts were about tripled.
For grapes that is cool to establish in the fitst year
If you stop treatment effects stop also.

I will try to use GA3 to make female seeds later this year just for fun. I have enough left. You need 0.1g for a liter. I plan to disolve it in 1ml alc. For the Spray. Just to be sure.

i'm using STS for making female seeds. Have used STS and CS, STS is just easier and more effecient.

also, i didn't mention, i grew some of the AK-47 and bubblegum from serious seeds and was really disappointed. that's why i still have those seeds.

also, the germination on the blueberry was none existent. guess i will give the last of them a try soon
