watts x hours on x cost per kw = a number

a number / 1000 = daly cost

daly cost x days in that month = monthly cost

there is no way those lights cause a 100 dollar increase per month. something else is the major cause nothing to do with your grow.. using 400 watt hps / metal halide does not even spike the bill near that. cfls are known for not using much power at all. each of your lights are using less power then leaving on an ordinary desk lamp or two. not a big deal for power draw at all!!

Ok you answered your own question.... Why did it raise!? Hmmm...... Could it possibly be the fact you have Electric heating and you're opening the window in the winter???? Let's think about this.... Yes. Case closed.

Lol, this thread's great. I have 300 watts using CFL's goin in my closet right now till the weather gets a little nicer and I can put them outside. In my parents house, too buuuuuuut I'm a medical patient so ain't got nothin to worry bout but my mom finding them and getting a little heated. Wish she was chillin like my pops though. He knows and he was helping me light proof it so you couldn't tell hahahaha. Love my dad. He was helping me choose an outdoor spot, too and giving me good compost tips. man, things are different since I've been out of high school :bigjoint:

To put it into perspective.

Even if you have a VERY OLD computer, it uses around 200-250watts.. Higher end newer pc's use 400-600watts... So going from a PC running 24/7 at say 300watts, adding in a extra 50 watts would not be noticible... Plus add in all the other things running (tv's running at 200+watts) each regular light bulb in your house 100ish watts.. Hell if you have yard lights, they probably pull 30w+ each

Has your mom been running the AC at all? temperatures going up, I know we had our ac on a couple times in april..

edit: guess im a lil late on this thread lol
