i had 4 3' cool white shop lights in my veg/mom room. my moms were growing twice as fast as my clones. my clone drawer was full from all the cuttings.

so i went to home depot. bought a 18" x 40" piece of laminated pine.
screwed on 2 3 bulb bathroom fixtures with 100w(27used) cfls.
on the other side i screwed down 2 2' double bulb shop lights with bright white bulbs.
i have a light meter. my clone/veg side is now twice the brightness as the mom side. this should hopefully even things out. i spent $161.28

my flower room is getting bare.

this thread is over a year old. i threw that shit away. CFL's are stupid.
Until you posted this, i was going to ridicule you for going to the cfl's. I feel bad for people using cfl's, but not bad enough not to make fun of you out loud for it.

i just don't like how a fender looks. it's too smooth and round. i like sharp edges.

can someone just answer the question and never mind the wise cracks, envirolites are 100% par, you can have all the lumens in the world but if its not within 400-700 nano waves it aint worth a fuck to plants because outside this range plants cant even see it. you only actually use about 15% of the energy you pay for with a hps light, the rest is in infra red, heat and buzzing sounds made by even more inefficant ballasts the older they get. so dont scoff me baw bag! these lights are the future, you dont have your finger on the pulse as much as you like to make out.anyway back to the subject has anyone given these things a fair go yet?, or know of anyone who has, i'm wondering if it would be worth it beefing it up a bit to all 200w bulbs. i intend to use 2 x 125w double canopy's red 2700k and hang 1 x125w 6400k on a single light holder in middle between the 2 canopys all this covering my 1.2m2 growtent

what was the question?

hahaha, speaking of funny. i start a thread clowning CFL's and you come in and ask a CFL grow question. hahahhahaha CFL's are stupid.:twisted:
have you ever used a HID? :-?:-?

I wonder why you found CFLs stupid? There very cost efficient, in some situations couldn't you say it is better than HID. I am growing 1 plant more or less as a hobby, using flouros, and after this I don't see myself growing again for a while..... Would you still say I should invest in an HID? And my friend and I (in his house) have used HID once 2 years ago (we each put in half), but it was a MH security light. We called the grow off right when flowering started due to several reasons.

Anyway, I just wanted to see why you are so adamant that CFLs are stupid. Do you feel the same about T5s

i have tried using CFL's. if you are going to grow 1 plant under a handful of CFL's then why not just buy a bag? if you want to grow for fun do it in your backyard. if you are SERIOUS about growing then use the PROPER lighting. a security light is NOT the proper light, nor is MH for flowering.

having to adjust bulbs daily for optimal coverage is just stupid.
having to rig together 10 cords to power your lights is stupid.
trying to add up all those #'s, 2200k, 3600k, lumens, blah, blah STUPID.
fluffy bids, stupid.
cutting corners to save money, stupid.
not getting to see the full potential of your grow, stupid.
wasting 3 months for a 1/4 ounce, stupid.

i could continue.

i've tried CFL's. they did not work for me. in MY opinion, they are stupid.
