My new veg light cycle

Saw this in High Times, have been using it and it's been working, saves energy and they seem to grow better. 12 hours on-5 1/2 off- 1 on- 5 1/2 off. Works great for my veg cycle.

I wonder why this works. The light cycles normally mimic the actually rising and setting of the sun. Plants have grown for a long time this way and I would imagine that they are optimized for it. Don't get me wrong, I would love to cut down from 18 hours "on" to 13 "on" during veg. 25+% energy savings. ~$0.16/kWh where I'm at so that could add up.

Just realized not hightimes, mag called treating yourself issue 25 the new one , the cover has a pic of Mekong High. The article says that since no plants ever get 18 hours light in nature...so this many hours of light stresses them. My plants are growing faster and are staying in veg. The one hour on in between the dark cycle keeps them from flowering, like I said I tried it and it works for me

Also goes on to talk about lowering your # of hours of light each week of flowering instead of staying @ 12/12.. Makes sence..more like nature
