Wow kind of a long time ah? But I understand completely, it all takes time.
I looked for something I saw before thought maybe itʻd help. Itʻs called the Handy Trimmer. Maybe youʻve heard of it.

Yeah, it takes time. Trimming 4 hours a day is about my max.
I've heard of and seen several kinds of power trimmers.
They do the trick, but the larger buds still need touching up.
I prefer to trim dry. It saves trichomes, and done over a screen generates quite a bit of kif.

just finsihed reading the entire thread took me 3 days on and off with dial up so i didnt have the luxury of enlarging too many photos. Some really grat info through out especially breeding and LST deff gonna try this in my next grow.
Atfer doing abit more research regarding my new greenhouse ive decided to go with a film called Duratouch which is the closest material i could get in OZ to yours. It has a 92% light transmission, im going to have a shade cloth that i can put on and off incase the temps climb too high. im also ordering some extraction fans the air will change every 3 minutes. im growing in 100litre bags of coco and im feeding 5 times a day, I usually feed 3 but im thinking with the extra heat a couple more feeds will help keep the roots cool atleast. Im also putting a black curtain inside so i can induce flowering alittle earlier this season.
First question is do u still feel a carbon filter on the extraction fan is a waste if the greenhouse is 100% sealed? i am going to take your adive and mount it high and where u told me but im still alittle paranoid.
Do u think the 30% shade cloth will block too much light? its the least % i could find. the plants will get full sun from sunset to sunrise.
im going to space the plants 1 metre apart from each other and was planining on putting tomato cages around them but im looking into LST now.
also any other advie u could give me would me much apprecitaed

If ventilation is adequate, shade cloth isn't necessary.
A sealed greenhouse is counterproductive.
So... you intend to use Hydro?
Mine are soil, and at most require daily waterings in extreme heat. Much less as the buds ripen.
My greenhouses each have 28 square feet of intake vents, and 7 square feet of exhaust vents, although most of the exhaust flow is directed toward a two sq. ft. opening above the doors.
Ideas?

i realise a sealed greenhouse is counterproductive but my main concern is smell and concealment. when i say seal it i mean seal the gaps and run intake and outtake to have 100% control over airflow.
yeah im growing 100% hydo using the whole canna line up. i have a greenhouse now a small one that i sealed and bubble wraped and ran Co2, it snows outside and the temps are fine inside with the heaters. but when the sun hits the greenhouse the temps shoot through the root even if its cold outside, but they seem to like it, im thinking when summer hits is when ill have the problems hence the 2nd greenhouse

A)Choosing a "perfect" harvest date is a subjective choice.
Some strains have a very long harvest "window", while others are best harvested as soon as a few amber trichomes appear.
I like all the trichs to be cloudy with maybe 10% amber for sativas, and 20%-30% for indicas.
This is very rough.
Some years, I'm forced to harvest quickly to avoid problems like mold or insects.

I guess this is where my experience ends.
I honestly have never tried carbon filters, always having relied on dissipation of odors for stealth.
Your security is pretty much based on whether your neighbors know what pot smells like.
Anybody have experience with carbon filters, and their effectiveness?

sorry mate just 1 last question, if i have extracting fans taking the air out, do i need intake fans also, or just leaving the vents open will just suck the air in naturally?

It depends on vent location.
Ventilation in my greenhouses would occur even without fans, but at a slower rate, as air heated and rose to the North(South in Oz) side vents.
If you follow my example, intake FANS would be unnecessary.(Sorry, my greenhouses have large intake VENTS.)
In damp conditions, I'll add a portable circulation fan to help prevent mold.

That is one freaky spider mite photo there. You losing any maturation time on the harvested buds, or were all of them pretty much ready to go?

The buds were finished, but I would have preferred to stretch the harvest a bit to try slightly more mature trichomes. These were all cloudy, but with very few amber.
My spouse swears the stoniest pot I ever grew was some that was as infested as this plant.
She'll be testing that theory.

Unbelievable... Man, I am so glad to have followed your grow. I have a question, VG. Mine sure looks like she could continue to grow a while although many of the larger buds are very much amber. Should I harvest some of the larger buds and let her grow some more or just leave her all intact? During this entire grow I only adjusted leaves and never cut any off, so she's been pretty natural. Thanks.

If the trichomes are looking amber(10% or more), I'd take a couple buds, or all that seem finished. Lower buds won't grow much, but will get denser, adding a few grams to your yield.

I have a similar situation as you. It looks like your using an outdoor shed to dry in.
This is my first time around with a large quantity to dry all at once and would like to use a shed I have outdoors but thought it would get to warm in there. I'm in bay area and temps are suppose to be 80 today but mid 70's the rest of the week. Do you think I would be OK?
I guess what I'm asking is do you have ventilation in that shed?
