My Own DIY Undercurrent System

Been working on this grow room for the past 3 days. I just finished it 2 hours ago and I am exhausted. It is a 19 site under current system. Did a test run for 1 hr and only three buckets were leaking. It was originally suppose to be a 20 site system but I had to cut one bucket out. It was leaking like no other. Almost flooded the fucken room. I was able to stop the leaks in the other two buckets by sticking two Uniseals under the pipes. By the way, those Uniseals make it EXTREMELY hard to put the PVC pipe in. Took me 2 days to do this part.Ill post more information tomorrow after i get some sleep. I will be glad to answer any questions you guys have.IMAG0047.jpgIMAG0049.jpgIMAG0046.jpgIMAG0044.jpgIMAG0050.jpgIMAG0045.jpgIMAG0048.jpgIMAG0043.jpg

I currently have 6 clones that i received from a close friend of mine. I think they are Chocolope and some sort of OG strain. I'm going to go out today or tomorrow to go pick up some teens. I also have 5 little Aurora indicas.

Sorry it has taken so long to post pictures. I have been pretty busy with school and work. So for nutrients i am using Dutch Master Gold Flower A & B and General Hydroponic MaxiGrow. Currently i have alien dog, jam dog, Diamon OG, 3-D, Hazy OG, Blueberry. The seedlings are aurora indica. I will be getting more clones in a couple of days to finish filling up all the buckets. My goal is to have at least 12 different strains so I can clones them and make mother plants out of them. Also, I'm really interested in buying Dutch Master Liquid Light. Have any of you used it before? Does it really increase the plants ability to absorb more light? Also, it has been over 1 week and there is no leaks. I silicone the uniseals just in case. The only problem i have is that i drilled the hole to low in the receiver bucket and some water leaks out.

I also forgot to mention that i have 2 600 watt lights and 1 400 watt light. The plan is to have 4 600 watt lights in there. I'm also going to buy two more pumps. I want all the buckets to have there own air stone. I also decided to get 19 different strains. The clones that I'm getting tomorrow are Phantom OG and LSD. Ill post more pictures tomorrow.

Hmm...19 different strains in an undercurrent? I don't know how you're going to tailor your nutrient mix to a specfic plants needs. That is a lot of strains, take notes so you can learn which are nute tolerant and which burn easily...Definately nice to have different strains, I'm guilty of doing the same, but I run individual bubble buckets.

LOL, I was just having this conversation with my gf. I think that I'm just going to have 8 different strains. I want to have 8 mother plants that i would keep in my closet under a couple of cfl lights. I'm also in the process of building another 20 plant system in another location. This system will also have 8 mother plants.

Yeah, I'm running a bunch of strains, but I'm running a perpetual, so constantly switching new strains in and out...Tuesdays are a bitch, though...Lots of rez changes to do with individual bubble buckets...Though the plants are more mobile this way, can custom tailor the nute mix for each plant, and they have less chance of sharing diseases. Just not practical for as many plants as you're running...I only have 12 in flower ATM, but I think I'm gonna try to keep it down to more like 9, 3 sets of three, three weeks apart, flowering for 9 weeks total for each set.

I have been reading all the forum posts on the DIY Undercurrent and was really wanting to know how well the uniseals work on the round buckets. The square buckets seem pricey and totes not much better. I have several 5 gal buckets from my DWC and dont feel like starting over with square ones. The Uniseals look to be what everyone is using and seem to work better than regular grommets or bulkheads. I like the comment about going slow or in reverse when drilling so may try that. Silicone them either way it seems. On my aquaponics system i cut the couplers in half and then siliconed one half on the outside and the other on the inside no leaks but messy and dont think it will work as well in this application.
SO i guess my question is any regrets with the Uniseals or anything you would have done differently?
