Im using Botanicare w/ RO water. Comes out at 59PPM, and about 7.0PH.

I add my nutes into a 5gal jug, PH it to 5.5 and dump it in my ebb an flow rez, I do that 4 times as my rez is a 20 gal.

Literally 5hrs to a day my PH is back up to 7.5-8.0+, what the fk!:wall:

I use G.H. PH stuff.

:arrow:Please let me in on how to fix this, I cant keep draining the rez to correct this, what do I do: dump 4ml of PH down in the rez and expect it to mix it self or what? :?

And RO at 59 ppm it's time to change filters. You should be at 2-12 ppm any more then 20 change time. I swap filters every 2 grows and membrane once a year.

just add it to the res as needed and stir it. i use a 5gal paint stirrer attachment for a drill, takes a few secs and my 50gal res is mixed. i have used botanicare for years and i will always get an initial ph spike the first day of a new res. i adjust it back and then never really have to mess with them for the whole 2-3 weeks.

If your RO water is 59ppm, something's wrong. You might need to replace the membranes.

Also, you're fighting the buffering power of the phosphate in your nutes. You cannot add a set amount of pH-down! You must titrate your res using a pH meter and a good deal of care and patience every time. This is one of the more laborious aspects of hydro imo. cn

Are you in hydroton or RW? I forget
"Grow!T Clay Pellets" so ya hydroton, ya know that company quit making Hydroton? IDK.... But what ever Grow!T comes pre washed and PHed, I still washed them an use H2o2 though.

I noticed that and was fearing that they needed changed, my PPM out of my RO used to be 35 about 3 grows ago.

I never use a "set amount" i always check it, and judge based on the PPM and just my general know how with the GH stuff.

Yaaa, I needed that; someone haviong something good to say about botanicare, I love the stuff!

FOR EVERYONE: I added a total of 6ml of GH down 3ml at a time and rechecked in-between, I put it in and kicked on the pump to mix it in, it worked great, my PH is back to 6.0 or there about, the color is lookn like Pee. LOL, Green is Mean, and Red is Dead.

Hey I have a bunch of pics and want to start my first grow journal now that i have picked my one strian out of the 15+ i had. I found my one set of nutes im keepn after trying G.O., F.F., Bio Canna, and some crazy mix of all sorts of lines in my attempted to build the ultimate nute schedule. Also I finally settled on ebb an flow, after soil, DWC, super soil, coco.

SO if I start one ya'll think youd check it out? My GOAL: 1GPW with 1 600w in a 2x3 sized ebb an flow.

Only reason I asked was clay holds it ph. You can adjust RW. If your running high ph in clay drop your ph to 5.2-5.4 first run. This should bring you around 5.8. After 2 days check you should be at 6.4 then add down to 5.4. Next day you should be under 6.0 or lower. 6.2 is as high as I like to go in clay. 5.8 in RW. In clay alway ph under what you want. Well for first run anyways. And when you wash it ph to 5.0 worked for me. I'm using black gold 80/20 so I can't wash but still ph lower then wanted. Big tank I need up small tank I need down. This is my 2 pennies.

Hey WCM, you aren't running Root Excelurator by chance are you? Aerating a res with RE spins the pH all over the place.

Good Luck

You make it sound like adjusting pH is a hard thing to do-it's not, when you use the right tools and common sense.

I use HR VEG+BLOOM. My RO water is now ~ 20ppms; I do not agree that 59ppm RO has anything to do with the problem, though I change my membrane ~ 30-40ppm.

My RO pH is ~ 8.2.

Adding 2 tbs of V+B to 2.5G = ~ 550ppm @ ~ 6.4

I put pH down in a 5cc syringe and squeeze 4-5 drops into a 1/4tsp; I swirl the nutes my paint mixer in one hand and slowly drop in the pH down, I check after a few drops and adjust from there. I tried dripping directly from the syringe, but it's too easy to over-squeeze and get too much into the nutes.
