my plant tipped over

Ok so my plant is a little over a week old and around 3 inches, and it tipped over resting on edge of cup. Is it time to switch to bigger pot? Also right now I am using jiffy seed starting mix, which I heard has low nutes. should I change to a better quality soil right now as well? thanks again

what would be the best way to go about this? Also what would be a good soil? 8 know of fox farm but no one near me has? What should I be looking for when getting new soil?

I think mor laying down on rim of cup....the weird thing also is it gre on side of cup instead of center...I guess it is the way I planted the seed

If I'm understanding you right it's almost like the top was too heavy and it fell over. If this is right, I think you have the light too far from the plant and may be using the wrong lighting. If the seedling is really stretchy and weak, it's more than likely a lighting issue. The plant is stretching because it's not getting the light it needs. Also, without any airflow, the stems stay thin and weak.

If you don't find the problem, transplanting will do nothing.

Well I'm using a cfl 100 watt n for the first half of week it was pretty far away but recently moved it a few inches above it. Should I get a dif light?

What is the light range of your cfl? Is it for growing or lighting a room? You should be using 6500k range lights at this stage. Check out other CFL grows for some ideas.

Either way cfls can be close, my t-5's sit about an inch or two from my seedlings.

I'm guess its for lighting rooms ( got from home depot) cuz I was looking for #k but couldn't find...so I should change light n should I keep in cup for now? Willthe stem start to get sturdier?

I would get some decent cfl lights and let it recover for a day or so, then plant up to a bigger container. Also make sure you have a fan blowing air around. Not right at her, but around the air so your stem shakes a little. This should perk her back up. Good luck

You can compensate for initial stretching by burying more of the plant when you repot. even if my seedlings are tall, when I replant their only about an inch from the soil. I'm probably going to trim those bottom leaves out later anyway.

K so my cfls are 100 watts n has 1750 lumens(?) It is daylight which I was told I need....I've been looking at home depot for a better one but can't seem to find.

I think daylight is more yellow and better for flowering. Look for bright white. Home depot does list the spectrum on their package. Look for 6500k in the area where all the light bulbs are. If your going to use CFLs, your going to need more lights. The best rig I've seen without making your own is a three light fixture they sell at home depot. It's round and has three sockets. People plug in y sockets so each socket now has two sockets, and they load this up with 6 lights in sort of an umbrella shape and put this right over their plants.

soft white is 2700k cool white 4100k and natural daylight is 6500k you have the right one for veg(6500k) however a 100 watt cfl that puts out 1600ish lumens doesnt sound right, you probly have a 23/26 watt that has the output of a 100 watt incandescent light

yeah u r right. but I actually found that it is 5000 k. i taped a straw to side and loosely put a string around the plant. i think it is starting to work....also finally got a timer that works soo now i dnt have to worry bout turning on n off lights on time
