My plants are growing too fast.

Hi there, I have 6 happy White Rhino females under 12/12 sodium bulb light, they are in a grow room under the stairs. They are all growing well but i'm worried they are getting too tall. The height is 6 foot in the room and one has already grown to 3 foot (grew 1 foot in 5 days). How can i stop them growing so fast towards the light? i don't want my juicy big bud on the tops of them getting burnt (apart from by me).

Also one point, I am grwoing them in my girlfriends house and she keeps having to show people around the house as potential flatmates. As a result I have to turn the lights off for 10 mins maybe twice a day or it looks a little like Dr.Who's Tardis is under the stairs. Could this have any effect on the plants, negative or otherwise? Any ideas would be welcome.

Thanks!

you're gonna have to top them or bend them over and tie them(gently) , switching the light off for 10 minutes or so wont do any harm as long as its not longer than that

I cant cut the top off them. I heard something about putting netting on it or something. To stunt their growth. Is there any truth in this?

Man, i think the easiest thing to do is get 2 Bamboo sticks, make a cross dillio thing, and VERY GENTLY 2 high points and tie them to the bamboo sticks.

a mate had the same prob, he started doing that, and i think it increased his yield too :blsmoke:

But 1 foot in 5 days? make sure their not streching.
It's not stretching, they are just growing like beasts. There is one that has literally grown 1.5 feet in the last 8 days. They are spreading out as well and i'm a little worried that there will be too much competition between them for the light.

Will taking the tops off the plants make them grow outwards rather than upwards? At the moment there is about 2 feet from the largest one to the light.

If you top them you will end up with multiple tops that will shoot for the sky (or light in this case). If I were you I would tie them down. In that way you also cause previously lower branches to end up topping and you will increase your yield. Good luck :peace:

Hey thanks for your response. Could you go into a little more detail about tying them down. I checked on them this morning and it's like they are possessed.

Need to bump this thread. Someone please help. These things won't stop growing. One is now a foot away from the HPS bulb and I think it is about to start burning. There is still a good month left of 12/12 before I can harvest my plants. Any ideas to stunt the upwards growth would be welcome.

Tie weights onto the tops with string, and make sure the fert your using is low in nitrogen if your flowering them:blsmoke:
