Just get a clear pistol that fires bbs, there relatively safe and being clear he wont get in trouble with anyone.

been there too... but people that will put a gun to your head, most likely wont shoot you or it would've been done... i told him to "use it, or put it back in your pants"... he put it back in his pants... and tried to shoot me a week later, but got my car instead..... "cocaine's a hell of a drug"

i guess i need to step it up then.... i stopped at the modified sks and pipe bombs.... but if i had an old truck around here............

Have too agree there with ya lol,

^ yea i agree with u but u could get an assault rifle to doesnt make much of a difference, just make sure its clear and doesnt resemble a real gun. nd make sure u set a punishment if he misuses it in any way.

dont waste money on airsoft guns

get him the real thing, i mean by the time you pay for a decent working airsoft gun (which break really easily btw, i use to play alot at strategic airsoft command in atlanta) you can buy him a nice single shot .22lr bolt rifle for like 110 bucks even

here look at these guys

firstly though, how old is your boy

if hes over 10 think about a real firearm

airsofting is ok, but it gets really pricey after a while, get him something that will last a long, long time

i was at 9

the earlier you teach them right, the better, i mean i have never had an accident

all im saying is airsoft guns break real easy and are expensive

you have three types

springers, which are cocked manually each time, these are usually the cheapeast and the weakest in general

gas guns, which use green gas or co2, these shoot around 250-320 fps and are usually in the handgun form......they are my favorite and are difficult to use and can be complicated

AEG or Automatic Electric Gun. these are more like rc cars than anything, its a motor that shoots the bbs housed inside a gun frame that runs off a battery. these are more expensive and better for combat.....but they are more likely to break and cost more. luckily they have gone down much in price since i was playing as a kid

this is the store i used, their prices are going to be just as good as anyones

I learnt to use an air rifle when I was about 7, I guess. We lived on a large property and there were feral animals around, so it was kind of necessary. All us kids learnt to shoot early. And if you live on a farm, it might be a good thing to teach your son. Just make sure that you teach him properly. Give him a learning period in which he's not allowed to touch the gun unless you're with him. Letting him run wild with it could get scary.

This doesn't mean that I like the idea of giving any gun to kids though. I've seen enough death and pain to know that this is not something I really want my kids to experience. I knew a family who lost a 4 year old son because he found his dad's rifle and just assumed that it was a toy, just like his one that made cool 'at-at' sounds when you pull the trigger. He shot himself in the head.

Also... my brother shot my cousin when they were around 13 - 14 years. They had been playing around, just shooting at crows. My brother aimed at one on top of the shed and the bullet ricocheted off and into my cousin's neck. He survived, but it was really scary at the time, especially for a child.
Now, both boys had been shooting for 6, maybe 7 years, and both were good shots and responsible boys. But sometimes that means shit. Accidents happen. This is why my kids have never been allowed to touch a gun. I wouldn't even buy a toy gun for them to play with. When they're adults I'll respect their wishes if they want to learn to shoot, but until then, the law of this house says that they'll respect mine. Guns are ways to hurt or kill things... and that should not be trivialised by teaching a child that it's ok to make these things into an object to play with. I also believe that playing with guns numbs a child's sense that killing and hurting is wrong, at least to some extent.

But that's just my opinion...

by twelve I had fired a 4/10 and a .22, even taking the guns by myself out to the lake to shoot snakes. I grew up on a farm though so this was considered normal. Now I'm a city slicker and I think it really depends on the child. If they're mature a plastic little BB gun is the perfect toy, play war, shoot cans lizards and frogs, target practice, bounce them off the wall and try to hit your sisters room (err, that was just me). The only problem is if you got one of those problem children it won't be used for those things, it'll be used to torment the neighbors and cause trouble. With everything, depends on the kid and how the parent teaches them. As far as how dangerous they are, Airsoft are about as harmless as you can get. The only real danger is an eye getting shot out, which is a danger, but those things won't break skin or anything like that. Wear goggles as you would with paint-ball and they're pretty much as safe as a cap gun, with less hearing damage (ask me about a sledge hammer and a roll in the garage)...
