My stuff losing the smell --- What's up with that??

Okay so my weed has lost the killer smell that it has. I have too much to put it into glass jars. I use turkey bags after the trim and cure. I have no problem with the trimming or cure, but here's what I do. Trim all the leafs and bud up and leave it on the branch and hang if off hangers. There's a lot of these hangers and they usually hold 1/2#. Then when the steam is ready (3-5 days)to snap or close to it I trim off all the buds into a Rubbermaid tub to cure it which is about another 3-5 days. Now I have opened some turkey bags that are a month old and it's kinda got a hayish smell. This is top shelf bud though and I have seen this before, but how do I stop it and keep that killer smell? It's not like the weed isn't good anymore, but people need the smell.

Please don't tell me to put it into glass jars because that isn't realistic. Have you had this problem before? I have other strains that I have let sit with an open bag and still smell good after a few months. I know this strain that lost it smell shouldn't of.. Looking for some facts, not shooting in the dark folks!!

what youre smelling is the chlorophyll breaking down in the bud and leaves. (its the stuff that makes the plants green) once they dry they will emit a grassy hayish smell and will smoke very harsh. most strains do this. are you letting the moisture out of the bags daily? proper curing is needed to get the smell and taste back. if you notice just the outside will smell like hay but if you squeeze a bud the moisture inside will release and youll get the old smell back. after about a month of curing, when the chlorophyll is done breaking down the hayish smell will go away and the taste will return and it just gets smoother and smoother after that. hope this helps!

also dont dry your buds out too much before curing and if you do throw some fresh buds in there and close up the bags for a few hours and it will return moisture to the buds and you can begin to cure.

and trust me you don't have too much for glass jars. if you took the time and effort to grow the shit then you can take the time to make sure its as tasty as possible. i would still put them into glass jars. at least your head stash anyway...

That's some good advice from farmerninja.. You will get that homegrowny/hay/bush weed smell because as he added, its the chlorophyll coming out of the plant. With enough curing and done properly that will be gone and you will have the sweetest flavour and aroma restored from your bud :hump:

If the buds are really dry you can put some orange peel in with the bud when your curing it which will bring back its moisture but I definitely recommend using glass jars, i have 3 x 3 litre ones and if i need more I will buy more, this is one of the most crucial stages of the process so no time to cut corners now!
