My T5HO or my 315w LEC?

My White Widows are popping!

I have a new Sun System 315W LEC and was wondering how soon I should use it.
These are autoflower WW.
Right now they are under my T5HO.
Thanks.

Sell the t5. Buy a 4200k lamp for your 315 for veg or full cycle, you'll probably want to swap back and forth from 4200k and 3100k lamps.

Okay I will. Since they are autoflowers should I switch the bulb at signs of preflower? thanks

No need to switch. I have the 4200k bulbs and they flower just fine.

Just got off the phone from my local hydro store. He said the 3100K from start to finish is fine. Customers who have tried the 4200K then switching over to the 3100K haven't noticed anymore results than just using the 3100K start to finish.

Look at the spectral distribution from the manufacturer of the bulbs. The 3k and 4k spectrums aren't too different. I liked the distribution better on the 4k, which is why I purchased it.

I'm sure both bulbs do fine with flowering :-)

My question remains...When should I go over to the 315?

Right now I'm saving electricity but would they do better as sprouts under the LEC?

How many bulbs is your t5?

I start mine under the LEC. I usually give them about 3ft of distance initially, then bring it down as they develop leaves.

@TedeBoy, how did your last run go?

I tried to follow along but my phone wouldn't let me view your journal most of the time

I have 2 fixtures. They are 2' x 4 bulbs each. Under each are 3 three gallon fabric pots. 5 have sprouted so far.
My last grow went fairly well for a Mars LED grow. I left them under the T5HO until they were about a foot or so tall in that grow.
I now have a 3x3 Gorilla tent, bigger exhaust fan, and the new Sun System LEC. My hope is for bigger and more powerful medicine.

8bulbs at 55w each is 440w! You'd use less power with the LEC. I'd just hang it up in that tent and forget about the t5 for now...

Congrats on the last harvest! 6x 3gal pots is too many plants for a 3x3. You may be able to fit 4 of them in there.

I would veg under that CMH till about a foot tall, then flip to flower.

A couple of points....
These are 2 foot bulbs. I just checked my meter and both together are pulling a total of 154W. Also these are autoflower plants. I think I can grow 5 easy in this space. At least 4 like my last grow.

Sorry, didn't realize they weren't 4fters...

I would keep them under the t5 until they grow a node or two, then switch to the CMH. They'd be OK right now under the CMH, they need as much light as possible so they don't stretch too much... I hate it when my seedlings stretch.

I just talked to my hydro store guy again. He said place then around the outer edge of the tent, raise the LEC all the way to the top of tent, and then if they handle it after a day or two lower it a foot every day until 18" or so. He said getting them used to the spectrum of this bulb early is good. Especially since they are autoflowers.
