N deficiency or nute burn?

Any help would be really appreciated. This is my first grow and so far everything has seemed alright. Now there is yellowing, curling of the leaves and overall drooping.

My plants are 1 week into veg.
They are misted 15 minutes on -- 45 minutes off in a rubbermaid with a 6.5gal rez. I keep air temp at 70-80, rez temps below 69.
So far I have been added a few tsp of FF Grow Big to Ro water.
My pH and ppm have been...

Day 1 - pH 5.6 ppm 240
Day 3 - Flushed, plants, and two clones already showed yellow tips and curling.
pH 5.8 ppm 200
Day 4 - pH 5.7 ppm 230
Day 5 - pH 5.8 ppm 280
Flushed again... no real improvement (whole leaf yellow)
Day 6 - pH 6 ppm 120
Day 7 - pH 5.7 ppm 120
Today - pH 5.5 ppm 140

I've looked everywhere and it seems like N, or K deficiency to me. Should I up the Grow Big? Flush? I have yet to find an answer...

Pic 1 is the clone after transplanting (djs flo)
Pic 2 is the same plant now
Pic 3, 4, 5 are others.

If I left anything out please let me know, I just want to get my girls back on track..

No red stems. This is really only two leaves that are yellow though, not too widespread...

My roots are all just poking through the net pots, some extend 6" +. Temps are almost always below 70 F. I did use about 12 Ml of Hygrozyme for a flush... scared of pythium.. although I have heard that can also negatively affect your plants as you are mixing in enzymes. Possibility?

Hazee,

What kind of light are you using? How close is it to your plant? It look like it could be a light problem (assuming you are giving it nutrients with sufficient nitrogen).

I don't think its a nitrogen problem because your stems are not red.

I am growing 6 plants and they are all doing beautifully. I put my clones right into five gallon buckets and they are doing the best I've ever seen. Consider transplanting (?) because, at least from your pic, it looks like it doesnt have room to grow and breath. I would also take the mylar and everything out from under the plant. It actually doesn't help that much and your soil is more likely to not get enough ventilation from (make sure your plant gets very well circulated air) circulating air.

Keep the light 12-24 inches away from plant. Temperature should be 74-80 degrees F at the highest during day. 65 to 75 at "night" when the light is off.

Drooping could be from lack of water or too much. Remember its easier to recover from a dried out plant than one thats over watered. Overwatering rots your roots and your plant will most likely die.

I don't think this is a problem that flushing will help with. It needs nutrients during this time. You should only flush once a month. Maybe that's why they are yellowing as well- because they cannot soak up any nutrients because your flushing them out. Every four weeks is enough.

Also, I've noticed with my leaves that once the tips burn, they don't recover (or at least mine don't). As long as the burn is not getting worse your buds will be fine.

I would not mist your plants either. Humidity is much much much better. Every hour seems crazy to me...

Sorry is this is all jumbled. I'm not very good with organizing lol.

Sorry, guess I wasn't too clear in my first post. My plants are planted in 3" rockwool surrounded by hydroton. They are being misted through a pvc setup in-rez with a 200gph pump intermittently (15on--45off minutes).

your soil is more likely to not get enough ventilation from (make sure your plant gets very well circulated air) circulating air.
I have an oscillating fan on them and a fan blowing fresh air in. Does the rockwool/hydroton really need ventilation? I thought having it uncovered would leave it succeptible to algae.

My Relative Humidity sits at about 60%. The misting is automatic, in rez, encouraging the roots to drop down into the solution, well I hope.

I just bought 2 airstones. When my pump is not running, (45 min off time per hour), should I have another pump running the air stones?
Could it be inside the rez and how do I hook up those airstones/tubing to my ecoplus pump?

Growinman,

Yes, I have a pH and ppm meter, it's a hanna combo one. My current pH is 5.7 ppm is 180. The ppm has never run more than 250 and my pH has stayed between 5.5-6.0. The pics of my plants are at the first part of the thread.

I haven't had much time to start with a journal but I will soon. Thanks for the help, again.

........yes, more nutes! Your ppm should be up over 750 by now..... I'd say to bump it to at least there and that'd be safe.... is your rw staying dry now, or does the mist go right past the hydroton to it? Your going to want a recycle-timer so you can go 1 min on, 4 off.......45 mins is quite a stretch with no direct h2o, though you may get by like it is.....those timers are $75 on up.

Give that a shot, and if you fear it being too much of a jump then just get it over at least 500..... In flower you'll want it at 1000........ FF is hot shit though---never go by what they say or you'll burn evreything up......

Have a great week and let us know how this goes......

........I dont think you want those so closed up like this with the tape.......you want air flow to dry out the rw------you only need to cover rw that is wet and getting direct light......unless/until you see green.............

Alright,

So my ppm is at 400 now. In a couple of days depending on how they do, ill up it to 700. My rockwool stays dry now so I took the mylar off on the bigger plants. Would a time for the misters like 15 on - 30 off minutes work?

I have found that works best for me 15 on and 30 off and like you I also use airstones like a mofo in a 1.5 gallon res I have 3 of the smaller air stones. I also would run majority of my plants at about 700 ppm by now but you did it right little by little.

Cool, ima switch that tonight. One thing though, It's ok for me to have 2 pumps in my rez, 1 that is pumping to the misters with the other running my 3 air stones... can I do 3 air stones off one pump?
Tomorrow my plants will be at about 500 ppm and so they will ease into it.... slow and steady.

I'm sure my plants were nute deficient all around.

How they doing hazee? Hopefully your starting to see a bit of improvement..?

Did you figure out about the pumps?? You didn't mean 2 pumps in the res, did you? I dont think you want to have the pump running the air-stones in the res, do you..... and sure, you can run however many stones you want with----but how big is your air pump..........3 may be pushing it so far as to not get much air coming out of the stones....<----that's the judge. I 've always used one stone per outlet on the pump and that works great....and then the Eco-commercial(loud!) pumps have a bigger outlets and can handle a manifold with multiple outlets...... I thinnk you just have to be the judge if your over-working your pump to where it's not putting out enough pressure to run 2 or 3 air stones........

I am sure there are multiple methods of coming up with pump(sprayer) times to run that work. I just thought 45 mins to be too much air time. My GH AF20 goes 24/7 while my cloners and StinkBud veg unit are 1 on 4 off---from StinkBud himself: "...Again, all my systems are on the same timer set to 1 minute on and 5 minutes off. This gives the roots the maximum amount of Oxygen without letting them dry out." <-----all his systems. I thought 5 mins to be too long so I only go 4....... And I haven't had any issues so have just left it at that......

Hopefully all is improving for you!!
