n00b's first grow - CFL Personal Grow

Howdy everyone, so I've decided to start a journal for my first grow to keep track of it and to get some advice (hopefully). Right, now I have 5 seeds in a small pot filled with potting mix, as of today 2 have broken the surface so very excited

I have 1 x 100w equivelant warm white cfl, 1 x 15w cool white & 1 x 11w cool white. I have a fan for circulation running constantly, have the lights running 24/7 (unless its a sunny day!) and have been watering with tap water left to sit for close to a week now.

I also read somewhere that I should keep my "glad wrap" cover on to act as a humidity dome until my seedlings have formed their first set of true leaves. Can anyone tell me if this is correct??

Setup looks alright. You may want to try and get bigger 65K bulbs. You will know they are 65K because they will be labelled Daylight. These bulbs have the ideal light spectrum for vegetative growth. 11 and 15 watt bulbs wont do much for plant growth. The lowest you should be thinking is 23 or 26. Usually a 42W is the best choice. I have been told that the glad wrap is supposed to come off as soon as the seedling breaks the soil. The 90-100% humidity environment created by the wrap is too high for good growth. If you want to try to keep humidity up always have a bowl or glass of water evaporating in the grow space.

yeah I need to get some more effective lighting, just really stuck for money like always.
do you know what the ideal humidity for a seedling is? im not even sure lol.

if you have all the 5 seeds in one pot , I wouldn't recommend having all them in one pot. Separate them into individuals

the reason i put them all in the same pot was they were dodgy looking seeds, and I wasn't expecting more than 1 sprout. Guess I got lucky though

I'd agree with that post. Separation is key. The earlier you do it the less root mass you have to worry about damaging. I don't know the exact humidity to shout for. I know the 60% range is good for early growth. As you progress you need to slowly bring the humidity down. Lower humidity is essential during flowering to avoid bud rot.

so I now have 2 sprouts, and although its hard to see, i think I have another one about to break the surface

due to me not having enough space, i cant really separate every seedling, so I was thinking about growing whatever pops up in this pot as sort of "one plant". Let the roots form together. Does anybody know if this is possible and/or worth doing?

Idk what to tell you if its smart or not, but my suggestion is if you keep them in the same pot your gonna have to pin em back away from eachother, if you had the seeds spread far enough from eachother I'd guess you might be able to get away with it, but thats kinda a shot in the dark.

You can grow more than one in a pot but it needs to be a BIG pot. The roots of the Cannabis plant love to have lots of room to stretch out. If they have other plants to battle they will not have anywhere near as much room as they'd like

What about trying to put a small divider between them so the roots dont get all tangled? or might confining it fuck with the roots more. (rootbound I beleive is what Im thinking of).

The divider would work for a short period of time. The plants would have to be transplanted out of that pot though into separate containers. The dividers should make that a fairly easy process though.

Ok so time for another update. This morning I tried to remove 1 of the seedlings from the pot and repotted it. After a few hours of being in a shady outside spot it is starting to wilt, looks like I might lose it.
Apart from that my other 2 seedlings are going well, they have both formed a pair of true leaves, lights still on 24/7, temperatures averaging around 25.
I have also potted 2 more seeds and hoping for them to germinate in the next few days so I will keep yall updated.

Think about what you said there. You transplanted a seedling creating a fragile entity. Then you took that fragile entity and put it in the shade which deprived it of it's most crucial growth element. Get her back under the light and it should go fine.

thanks again for the help guys

i just noticed then one of the seedlings (which still only have 2 true leaves, is this normal?) has some discoloration around the edges of its true leaves, not the cotyledon. Looks like a dark blue or a black colour.
does anybody know what this might be from? And how I can help my seedlings overcome it??

what kind of soil are you using. In the one picture it kinda looks like mulch or something from your yard. If it is you may want to look into some good organic soil and nutes for those babes.

hmm i am just using potting mix from a bag, i was under the impression if I use soil I shouldn't need to fert for 2-3 weeks? Is that right?

EDIT- Im also starting on their new home on Monday, hopefully shouldnt take more than a day or 2 to get everything done, i think they will be much happier!

I would say, first look vids and read about the hole proces. there is alot of cool stuff out... never grow more one plant per container
