Need Advice on Increasing Yeild

I've been growing for close to two years now and I feel like I'm finally at a point where it seems to click. Now I'm really trying to hone in things get an even better grasp on what I'm doing.

I'm looking for suggestions on how to increase my yield. As it stands I'm operating under a SOG method. Four 1000w lights each running in a cycle of 2 weeks. Meaning plants are cycled in under one of the four lights every 2 weeks for 8 weeks in a total cycle. The plants are in soil, in 1 gallon pots and go directly from rooted clones into flowering. None of the plants reach over a foot in height and I'm yielding on average a quarter ounce per plant.

I'm at a point where I would like to increase my yield per plant and I have a few ideas, but I'm curious if they will have a significant impact or not.

1. I'm considering letting the plants veg for two weeks before placing them in flowering. This is after they root. Like I said they are going straight from root into flowering now. I'm uncertain if this will have an impact on final yield. I could still stay on my current schedule, but just include an additional two weeks of veg time that the plants are not currently receiving.
2. Larger pots. I'm currently growing in 1 gallon pots. Since I'm not really growing trees and I'm only concerned about growing a large primary cola I never thought the plants would have root issues going straight from clone to flowering. I also wanted to consolidate space by growing in smaller pots. My thought process was I could pack more in with smaller pots. However, I recently found pots that were around 3 gallons that had the same diameter as the pots I'm using now. I could in theory still maintain my numbers while using a pot that allowed for more root volume.
3. Possibly try new strains. I'm currently growing two different strains White Widow and Critical Mass. The Widow is out producing the CM a bit, but the CM smoke is just incredible. I know CM is know for it's yield however I think I ended up with a female phenotype that isn't necessarily a heavy producer. I'm open to trying other strains that might yield a little better under my growing conditions so any suggestions are welcome.

Those are my thoughts at this point and I'm really looking for additional suggestions or just weighing in on what I've outlined to this point.

Vegging for 2 weeks before you put them into flower will help for sure. But other things you might try is to take bigger clones. I run a similar perpetual SOG grow and I take clones that are between 8 an 12 inches tall. I throw them straight into flower after they have a good root structure. They go under three dimable 600w digital ballast set at 50% (300w) for 3 days then switch to 75% (450w) for 3 days then 100% (600w) I run mine on two hydro flood tables (80 plants on each 3x8 table) and after 2 weeks they have stretched to 24 to 30 inchs. But no matter how good you are at growing, if the genetics are not there, your yields will be the same. Right now I am running a Strain called SIN from VCIS Co, it's pretty good but I am only averaging about .50 to .75 oz per plant dried and cured. I am trying AK48 and Wonder Woman strains from Nirvana right now and I have a few of each in the flower room right now to determine which mother to keep and which one to toss. Hoping to exceed previous yields per plant.

Can you tell me how you have your tables and 600w set up? do you have the tables together so the total measurements are 6x8 or 3x16? and which way are the 600w shades ? I'm trying to redo my basement and I'm not sure what to do, so your input would help me out. Thanks

Dude did i see correctly your 1gallons are the same diametor as some 3gallon pots?? If this is TRUE then you must switch to 3 gallon and veg for two weeks and you will have big defferences.... The only reason to use a smaller pot would be to fit more in there but if the bigger pot will fit with the same quanity of pots then it seems like a no brainer ...Give your plants room to root man.....Let them veg for two weeks and get those colas big you still have the exact same number of plants just takes two weeks longer for big payoffs in yield seems like i said no brainer....

i would personally vote for experimenting with some other strains. i grew side by side trainwreck, and purple kush x trainwreck, and the trainwreck totally dwarfed my two pkxtw plants. i ended up with like 8oz off my tw plant and 4oz off one pk and 1 off the other pk. the only drawback was that the pk is some seriously amazing smoke, and thats what im gonna grow now. i will have to make some decisions in the future however because if they dont yield heavier this time i dont know if a low yielding plant would be feasible for me. thats my take on things, if you have the beans crack a bunch and run em all in your sog and see whats good...

I thinks its a combination of all three, theres is no single silver bullet. I have a multi strain perpetual grow too, and I had been fllowering right from rooting using 1 gallon pots, i like the ease of harvest but the yields werent enough. I just went through the same basic problem and Im happier now w/ my results.

1. I now take larger clones and let them veg for 3 weeks before going into flower.....much more production im happy, seems to have made a big difference.

2. They now root in party cups, get transplanted into 1 gallons to veg and then go into 2 gallon grow bags to flower. The plants are MUCH happier and at 5 weeks have the same size top i had been getting at harvest.

3.Ive run a bunch of strains through my perpetual grow over the last 18 months. I had to sort out canopy issues, flowering times and of course yield....Ive kept just 2 from the past 18 months and am running 3 more new strains now. Im sticking to Indica and Indica heavy hybrids due to flowering times and canopy control. Right now Im running:

Barneys Farm Violator Kush: From the begining Ive kept, huge yield and easy to clone/grow, 9 week flowering time
DNA Genetics Sharksbreath: Even larger yielder, great buzz and very popular w/ my friends
DNA Genetics Hashplant Haze: Grows clones easier than all the others, i only grow 1 a month due to Sativa growth patterns its my personal smoke

Trying out this run:
Female Seeds X Line Pure AK: Looks and smells like this could be a winner too, grows and clones insanely fast, so far looks like a decent yielder (im at 3 weeks fowering)
Dinafem California Hashplant: Just a seedling right now, but it germed and popped soil in less than 36 hours and is growing real fast.

we vegg our plants for almost two months while we have plants in flower once we harvest them we put our vegg in flower.We ended up with over a pound with just three plants.Number 1 will help a lot.And Im sure you know different strains will put out different size buds.

at the same time will they are in vegg we are cutting off and topping plants to make clones.
