I do a perpetual grow, (drop a bean every 2 weeks into a beer cup then into a 3 gallon pot during the 17 day veg) and I usually pull 2 to 3 zips every two weeks.

Guys,

I'm currently browsing a LED light for my grow tent "Grow Lab GL80" (size is 2'7" x 2'7"x 5'11") and I'm a little bit confused with the power measurements. I read on the Internet that 1 sq ft of grow space requires about 32 watts of actual wattage. Therefore, I need about 220W of actual output. Am I right?

My confusion comes from the fact that some of the LED lights are advertised as 600W but have only 270W of actual wattage and others are advertised as 1200W but have 250W of actual wattage. Both lights are full spectrum. Please, guide me on this matter!

Don't spend your money on those lights that rate themselves that way, they are misleading you. If you want a good led for your small tent look at these. It's more expensive than those cheap lights, but it will be a bit better.

Quantum, timber, etc. Any LED that rates in anything other than actual draw you'll be left wanting more.

Draws 260 watts at the wall, 240 of actual output (20w +/- to run the driver) will do everything a 400w hps can do but better. I could really use the extra head room sometimes! Little tents like these can be tricky. Bruce Lee said it best though, “be like water”.

That's a solid point on the cmh and the UVB. The 315 would be about perfect in that space. I ran solistek 6k 1,000's in a greenhouse this last season for an early veg and while the Platinum Huckleberry Cookies were lovin it the Optimus Prime didn't seem to be a big fan of the extra extended UV spectrum. The glass in a sealed hood will filter the UVB/UVC but leave most of the UVA for the benefit of UV without the drawback of the more extreme UV range.

Chinese blurple lights often label themselves as full spectrum. They typically are not. They are “duel spectrum”. Blue, and red. True full spectrum lighting is white, or in some cases pink because they have supplemented a true full spectrum white light with red diodes because red diodes are the most efficient for photon production. Chilled boards are like this and a very high end board. This can get confusing because they are starting to incorporate more white diodes into the cheap chinese lights but still using inefficient epistar diodes. If it says epistar, its junk.
