is it time for me to start FIM'ing ? i have read about 10 articles about FIM'ing and seen videos n stuff but im still afraid to do it... maybe i should try it on 1 first, then wait 2-3 days to do it on the others just to be sure and see how it goes?

i really dont wanna mess this up and start over :P
any advice here would be golden!

thx

Seedlings won't grow above ground until the roots reach the inside walls of their pot.
Until then they just grow roots. By transplanting into slightly larger pots, your plants won't waste so much time growing
a bigger rootball than needed.

Good luck, BigSteve.
Sorry but that is simply untrue. What do they have to touch before breaking ground outdoors? That's a myth. I never use anything smaller than 3 gallons and they are out of those within a month - from experience with root compaction. YOU CANNOT PLANT IN A CONTAINER THAT IS "TOO BIG". No such thing.

hi hotrodharley

i disagree with large pots at this stage
the plants need to have a drink and soak the hole root mass and dry out as often as you can

i have 8 plants in pots that hold about 1/4 ltr and are taking 6 days for the roots to dry and when the soil is running low on water the plant uses all its energy
to grow roots to find water and nutes and slow the top growth down ( this really helps to grow a short stocky bushy plants :):) )

as the plant get root bound re pot into bigger pots up to when the plant goes into flower

Hey there. I just go big the first repotting. Makes it the last repotting. I work 14-18 hours a day the days I work so I save time and labor any way I can.

yeh i can see why you go big, working long hours, if you re pot in a large pot say 20ltrs with a small plant and drop the pots in a larger container filled with water
so all the soil is completely soaked, it could be 2-3+ weeks before you need to water again :):)

Ok guys so im at day 18 now, maybe day 15 into veg...
just have a couple of questions:

1. When do i start to prune, trim?
2. Why are they so bushy, and not so tall? i know its indica stuff but anyway... is this a normal height for the 3rd week or do i have the lights to low?
the lights is about 22" from the plants, 400w hps.
3. Should i try out the FIM or Topping in this run or wait until next grow? considering im a first timer. Cos if it is very easy and it will create more bud in the end, i sure as hell
wanna do it. ;)
4. Considering my 15L pots (about 4 gallons i think) how big should these babys get before i put them into flowering?

thx yall

all plants started from seed will show different growth rates due to its own genetics. along with the light and room environment will also determine growth. dont confuse growth of leaves and stretching or growth of the stem. you are doing fine imo. after the seed pops, its a seedling for about a week then its starts to veg. so your only about 11 days into veg. and soon they will kick into high gear in veg. as long as it has enough light, co2, good temps, and a big enough pot for a big root system.

Day 20 from seed

Check the big one out, is there something wrong with it or is this normal? Compare with the one from day18! and its so friggin bushy! there are many leaves "inside" the big leaves wich doesnt get much light at all, but is still darkgreen and beautiful.
(these big pots contains water so good, so when i felt the soil a few inches down it was still moist for 3-4 days. so this, day20, is about 4 days since i last watered them.
i also use canna veg nutes and a little superthrive, like 2-3 drops)

Looks like your doing damn good brother! Short and bushy is what you want over long, straggly and the nodes spaced out. Should be OK with the nutes just back off for a week er so and let em use it all up. Different strains have different looks so dont be too concerned with how big the leaves are. As long as theyre green you're doing just fine... keep up the good work and youll be smoking your own bud in a few short months(its not short at all but its a fun journey!!)
