i just got my seeds in from dr chronic!!! but now i need help with finishing my cabinet. i got a dc comp fan (larger red one for 10 bucks) and a voltage adapter that changes the volts between 3-12v and plugs into the wall, i wired them together and realized that i prolly need a ac to dc converter wired inbetween the 2 things. i went ahead and tried it and it didnt spin so yea, i think im right but what do you guys think? i could have just had the wires backwards since the converter doesnt show polarity tho, what you guys think?

and since the motor is a permanet magnet type, should it just spin the opposite way if i reversed the wires?

but the adapter is for ac voltage , should it still work with a dc fan?
If the adapter only reduces the voltage from 120v to 3-12v AC then no. You could possibly damage your fan. Your fan needs a DC power source. Check the adapter to verify its AC to AC or AC to DC...

The odds of him having an ac to ac adapter with switches to go from 3-12v are a million to one. It's a dc adapter and he just has it wired backwards.

They don't run in reverse.

It could be that it doesn't provide enough current... But more likely just wired wrong.

btw if i want 2 fans, kick it up to 12 volts parrallel from the adapter, or just black toblack, red to red? whats better for wiring, i got a slim cabinet and easier wiring is important

Run in parallel... connect all the black together and then connect all the red together. Can't get any simpler.
