Need Good Quality 400W Bulbs That Won't Brake The Bank?

I'm about to start cutting clones real soon, currently using a used 400W MH bulb that my friend said doesn't look too used and should be fine for several more months, my first question is should I bite the bullet and buy a bran new 400W MH bulb for Veg or is the used one I have fine? Ive done some searching but there are so many different brands and types I just don't know what to get. I just need a good MH for Veg and now that I think about it if a more expensive HPS bulb really is that much better them maybe I should get the best possible for flowering, I mean that's the most important growth phase right??? I'm going to need a new 400W HPS bulb for sure once I start flowering so if enough of you say its worth it what are the best 400W HPS bulbs? Ive seen some 400W HPS bulbs as low as $10 (--->HERE<---), yet 400W bulbs specifically designed for growing Ive seen go for over $100, are the "special" grow bulbs really that much better? Any help you can offer is appreciated, thanks and keep em green.

a Lot of people swear by hortilux bulbs, most if not all of them are dual spectrum. I personally haven't tried them but people who have say they are the best. I wouldn't go witth a super cheap one

Ive heard it both ways. Some swear by the more expensive "grow HID's" but from my experience the Sylvania 400w MH/ HPS for $15 will give you a average/above average yeild.

Thanks for the replies Cranker and Growes, this is my first "real" attempt at growing and I'm beginning to realize that I'm going to need all the help I can get, and I sure do appreciate it fellas.
Well I have the opportunity to grab this: (---->Hortilux HPS Lamp<----) bran new in box for $30, I'm pretty sure that's a good deal, however, I really don't "need" an HPS bulb "right now" as I won't be flowering for about two months and there are other things that I could put the money towards, things I kinda need now such as: Mylar, Ducting, Inline fans & soil amendments. Is it rare to see those bulbs going for $30 bran new or do deals like that pop up often? What should I do here fellow growers?
