Run the light for 24 hours with a fan blowing on it. turn it off for a few hours, then turn it back on. I doubt it will still have that smell

NO!!!! I used that bulb on my first grow. They are way to hot, I mean way, way to hot for what little light you get from them. At least do what the one guy said and get CFL's.

Hey on the light, try to use some compressed air inside the ballast houseing and around the blub socket and such places.
