I'm not sure which cob I should be using. The cxa3070 or the cxa3050.

I'm looking to do about 300watts and looking for the most amount of lumen but also a really good par.

if you guys were building one would you go with the 3070 or the 3050?

thanks

The 3070 series is the newer of the two....so i would go with that.

In my opinion go for the highest 3070 bin available (Z4 or AB) so that you future proof your investment...(well as far as LEDz go anyway.. :) )

Hi! I think it depends a lot on your grow situation.. And if you prefer to go with fewer hard driven or several soft driven cobs.. If you don't mind building with more cobs, you can take advantage of better l/w at low current and get better coverage/ more even foot print as a bonus. You don't have to buy the latest cobs. Look at the charts Cree offers and you will find that older cobs will give you up to 150 l/w if driven at 300 mA. My advice is to compare different cobs performance, and then try to find the sweetest deal on findchips.com.. I bought 8 high binned cxa2530 4000k for 22$. They give 140 l/w at 800mA and probably over 150 @350mA.. So it's all up to you, many good choices! Latest tech or cheaper "old tech" have fun!

Valid pointz fiveleaf.....although price or the cxa 2530 didnt come into the original posterz question....so the 3070 is alwayz going to be the answer... :)

I think choosing the cob will depend on how the cob will be used. I would choose (and have chosen for myself) the 3070 3000k for a good seedling to harvest light. I would choose the 3050 in 2700k for a flowering focused led as it outputs a little more in the deeper red part of the spectrum which is great for flowering.

Either way both should do well. We have had a few growers using either cob and they all hit around 1g per watt. Check out Supras thread to see how the 3070s go, and a user called bbspills used 100w of 2700k 3050 and pulled just over 100g of buds.
