Need help choosing DWC system

Hi New to growing hydro been doing soil for the past few years looking into A DWC system or ebb and grow. I no you can make these things fairly easy but I dont want the hassle just want to buy a premade setup. Also I am thinking 6 or 8 LARGE plants. Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated...

? really for the trouble of spending a couple min looking at what you want you can spend under 100$ compared to pre-made starting at 150$+, get everything you need at walmart, home depot/lows.
You want LARGE plants so you want a couple 5+gal buckets w/lids then get some strawberry containers as net pots (prolly get free a grocery store) some air stones/pumps, water pumps (for beginning of veg cycle until roots hit water) to supply water to plant, and hydro-ton/pear-lite for the net pots, small rockwoll cubes to germ in maby, ph up n down and cheap tester.

Buying those things new gets real expensive real quick. If you got the money then shit, do it! But if you dont then watch out, because you can very easily spend a lot more than your initial estimaes. Remember...First you have to pay the 200% mark up to buy the base units then you are stuck buying all their replacement parts and such at their ridiculous prices. With your own system you are the master. Of course there is a learning curve but once you build your own you will wonder why you didn't before sooner. I have a kick ass GH system collecting dust in my closet because of those two factors mentioned above.

Check out my thread in my sig for a really complete DIY system. It is based on a lot of re-designed systems so its pretty much state of the art...for DIY.

Hi,

I have used both systems.

DWC bucket -
Pros- Growth faster (in my experience)
- Can grow larger plant
- Can rotate and move plants around
- No water pump
Cons
-Annoying to do res changes
-Air stones and pumps for each bucket

Ebbmflow table

pros-Easy to do res changes and monitor PH EC lvls
-Can grow as many or little plants as you can fit on table

Cons- If putting medium such as Hydroton into table you cannot move plants easily

Well thats all i can think of at the moment. Atm I am using ebb and flow and do like the flexibility and ease of maintenance better. But If growing Larger plants I would probably go with DWC buckets but with a resivour hooking all the buckets together and water pump flowing the top of the buckets. Only because I found growth int he DWC much faster ( even in alot worse conidtions then my current EbbnFlow).

if you dont want to get a chiller and you intend to grow in summer, go with flood/drain. only setback is cleaning the medium after harvest. i never seen a slower growth rate with it when compared to dwc
