you would need to purchase a domain and a host. like godaddy is a web host i think. then get an html writer to write the html code, you'll need servers to host your site on and to store user/forum data. it's not that hard. but it could be. just do some research on google about starting a website.

thanks, i think i'm going to make my own forum, if i do it with these people is their anyway to make money off of it? do forums make any money? if I use this one is it a good forum? why do they give it to me for free? what do I lose by using there free forum? can I use them but name it myself or link it to my own domain name?

I use host gator for all my hosting/domain needs. Fuck godaddy.
You're looking at about $85/year (if I remember correctly).
Then you can use phpbb forum, it's free and quite versatile. You can monetize it by running ads, I'm not sure you can do that with the freeforum (never looked into it though).

Can I use a domain name thats through Godaddy with dreamhost? Or does godaddy habe a forum thing? If so what service from godaddy would I need for a forum? Or how do I hook up with dreamhost if I got the domain through godaddy? I dont know how to do computer stuff so it has to be simple for me. I want a forum like RIU where it's like rhis, this one seems awesome, so is dreamhosts like this, where people can have names & pictures & talk & make threads? What is your forum about Carne? I like RIU but I don't like or care or associate wirh MJ, I want to make one about businesses & politics & do it yourself stuff.

Anyways. I have a reseller account for host gator. I could hook you up for probably half what you would pay going through the site yourself.

Why do you say that? Can you explain? I don't know what a cpanel is, why don't you like godaddy?
My biggest beef with them is that they pretty much lie & try to scam me, they will send me something about save 30% on a order, then when you check their prices they are always on sale for 20% off- 20% off is the standard price, so the 30% off ends up really being 10% off the standard price.
I have found their customer service really good, they always answer & speek good english & take time to explain how for me to do stuff.

But I bought randpossumheadpaul.com through godaddy & some other domain names, now I want to turn one of them into a forum & I want to make money from ads and selling & promoting stuff. I want a forum about starting businesses & small companies & investing & how to make things yourself like cabins & wells & solar panels & growing chickens & vegetables

cpanel is part of the backend of a site. (stands for control panel)
Most of the time it's standard, but godaddy has their own proprietary control panel, and it's fucking bogus. I could go into it, but it's just, non intuitive and has limitations. You want the standard cpanel, no matter who you choose to go through.
Host gator and godaddy are about the same amount for hosting. Seems dreamhost is about the same cost too, but I have no experience using them.
