i just got an apartment and want to start growing what would be the easyest way to go about it and i dont whant big electric bills
CFLs or tube fluorescents.

congrats on the APT.. but its not the ideal place to grow weed fyi.
I'll echo this point. Apartment growers seem to be the majority of busts.

Just the smell is probable cause. And they(the PIGS!) don't have to actually smell anything.

I my self just acquired and apartment. I currently have a grow at a friends house but would like to move it to my apartment. If I plan on growing just two 4 ft plants the smell should be easily controllable, yes? I mean I should be able to get it low enough it wouldn't leave the apartment

not sure, but I do know that alot of apts AC/Heat duct system are "intertwined" ( or w/e ) and the smell could possibly go from your exhaust into the main system somehow.. But maybe im just paranoid?

Hey man,
I am currently living in an apartment and am growing several plants in my closet. The key is building a grow BOX. I just bought one off of homegrown hydroponics but they are fairly expensive. If you can afford it it is definately worth it. But if not you should be able to set something up in your closet. Just remeber the biggest factor is getting enought lights to your plants.

Yeah dude, don't let peopel discourage you from groing in an apartment. Lots of people do it including myself. I agree with the one guy who says that you need to have a BOX. This is true. I read one thread where the guy got so excited he ended up converting his bedroom into a grow room and moved himself into the living room and got caught by the landlord. That is a NO NO. "Cab in a Closet" allows you to control an environment inside an environment. Go on craigslist and find a cabinet of some sort. Sliding doors are more ideal than swing open doors cause they require no space to open and get to your plants. Plus, its cheaper than buying a pre-made box and it'll be more custom to your surroundings. Just make sure you take measurements and don't get a cabinet that's to big to fit. Do a keyword search on '7th1der' and check out my cab thread and get more of an idea what I am talking about.

I can't believe how many years I got away with growing in an upstairs apartment. To be honest, back then I was either courageous or an idiot. The smell alone should've gotten me busted, but somehow I never did. One 400W HPS with a halide conversion bulb and two plants is the most I'd recommend if you insist on doing it. Any more than that, and you're tempting fate.

I agree! And 2 was a personal limit I had set with myself from day one. If you have carbon, there should be no reason why smell is an issue. If you a babysittin' ass grower and you keep checking on it and consistently opening the door then yeah, smell could get you hem'd up.
