Need help on wood

So I was thinking about getting a Grow Tent since it would be nice to have the extra space, but except not so nice for the stealth aspect. And with a apartment is not something I am willing to give up. Buying a cabinet is also expensive. Even without any carpentry skills I was thinking about building a 4 x4x7 cabinet. I have no experience with lumber and was wondering what type of wood would not be expensive, but would not make people wonder why I have a giant box in my room. And if I get the wood from home depot or lowes could I get everything cut on site?

you could use pine, check out my box. after using it for a while i came to the conclusion that the tents are easier to break down, and move i.e. when landlord inspects. no light escapes.

but yeah pine works fine, for the those dimensions you might want to consider 1/8 hardboard plywood with the corners reinforced with heaver timber.

as experience goes to make a nice inconspicuous cabinet is really hard, especially being the first time. i work construction, and it still looks like crap.

Looking at your cabinet makes me think that I should stick with a grow tent. If you think that looks like crap, I hate to think of what I would accomplish.
