Need help setting up grow room

I have a closet, 52 x 24 x 67, hoping to use a 3x3 space in it. what lighting / setup should i use? MH or HPS? what wattage? tried 150 w hps 250 w mh before, but it's too hot in the room, plants were stunted. have a dehumidifier and the right nutes and whatnot, just need advice on lighting, humidity, and temperature control. need a little help, lol. here's a picture of the space, btw

go for a led in small spaces that heat is a problem. no heat emitted. 1 90w ufo could probably cover your closet grow
 
If the hps and mh were too hot before, and only 150w and 250w, then i would recommend looking into CFL's depending on how many plants you plan on growing, it's a lot cheaper if you only plan on growing 1-6 plants imho.

it's not that the lights were too hot, it's the environment, it's in an attic =\ summertime sucks. led light or cfl's? hm...and yeah no idea about venting or odor control, i was thinking maybe an ozone generator and regular floor fan?
 
OK Mendo now you have provided some information, what are the temps in the room? Is there A/C and heat up there?
 
The temperature in the room gets easily in excess of 90+ degrees, the room has no heat or air conditioning, it's a bit to the side of the house, which is why we're using it, hidden away from everyone and everything. no insulation in the room, either. winter time it gets freezing, but a space heater would solve that, cooling the room down though would be hard, window AC unit maybe?
 
Yikes, that's hot. I suspect that you are going to need to get an A/C up there. Starting in the 90's is just too hot, when you start to burn lights up there it's just going to get worse.
