just ordered a 5x5 grow tent off of ebay, this one to be exact:

http://cgi.ebay.com/MYLAR-INTERIOR-GROW-TENT-BOX-HYDROPONICS-5-X-5-NEW-/360317898297?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item53e49ece39

My question is, how big of an inline fan do i need and how would I mount it? I will be growing 5 lowryders under a 400 watt hps for now. i've found one thats cheap by htg supply,

http://htgsupply.com/viewproduct.asp?productID=46434 (only a 4")

or the 6"

http://cgi.ebay.com/6-inch-INLINE-DUCT-FAN-exhaust-BOOSTER-blower-cool-air-/390127340450?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5ad566cba2

would this be sufficient? And how the hell do you mount and seal? sorry kind of a nub when it comes to tents.

Ok so its 6' tall and 5x5 so 10X6= 60 cubic feet. rule of thumb is to move the size of the area every 5 min. in your case you will have no problem. yea that fan is 160cfm so plenty but you will need a speed control so you can slow it down it might suck the walls in if too powerful and slow down during winter to keep some heat and run it wide open for summer.http://www.rsghydro.com/4-inch-In-Line-Fan-165-CFM-p/8095.htm is what i would get they can withstand the heat and active air is cheep but good quality if your fan overheats you could wipe out your crop so i feel it is worth the extra 40$ no shops near you?? . the booster fan you picked you can usually get at hardware stores prob without the plug. duct tape for sealer and the outlet should be on the top of the tent nope its on the bottom shit that sucks you want to pull from the top and have air enter at bottom ya know hot air rises. so maby you could run a piece of flex tubeing from the fan side and hang it from the top of tent to get that hot air out asap. You have so many options its crazy.

you should be looking at inline centrifugal fans.

The duct booster fans are shit at removing air.

You should probably be looking for something around 200CFM's or more for your heat removal.

as for connecting it all you just use duct clamps and ducting along with the vent holes in the tent.

Jonda is right, those booster fans are junk, they have no pressure, will not run the 160 cfms unless just sitting in an open room. If you are using it to exhaust you will need to have at least 2x as much of an opening for passive intake. The fan will not hold pressure in the tent then and you will lose smell into the surrounding room. done properly you MAY be able to cool slightly with it, but i would do the research and get a good 4" inline fan.

I would believe that to be 12v dc, not 120v ac. you could get a transformer from radio shack. Very creative though. I really have no idea how much pressure that would push, but seems like it would hold up to some serious heat. I wish they had more info on this, like power usage. Almost seems like it might be worth the gamble, but plan on it being 12v dc.

yeah i assumed it would withstand the heat and it says it has 170 cfm. wiring is something i can do so thats not a problem. im going to look for something a little better though i think, i'm not getting many results on ebay.
