Hi folks, i'm new to this site and posted a thread in the Newbie forum but not sure if it needs to be in here.

I bought an Industria Light set up off eBay but it came from Holland. I need help wiring a UK power cable into this box. The instructions and emails from the company said 'just connect the two wires to the luster terminal? Umm what? Here's a pic, hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.

This company has sold loads of these lights to the UK and say it's easy to do but fo legal reasons can't give me step by step wiring instrustions! Anything electrical kind of freaks me out and I don't want my stash/house going up in flames.

Which colour wire is live/neutral etc. Where on the board am i supposed to fit the UK power wires? HELP!!!!!!!!!!! I have an expensive white ornament until i can get this baby running!

Cheers for the link although now i'm even more confused. The parts look similar (Capacitors/Power supply etc.) but the only colour of wires in the box of mine are Black and Blue. I'm presuming one has to be live and one neutral. So i reckon i would just wire the UK Brown live wire and the Blue neutral wires to the opposite terminals? Does anyone know what the hell to do with the UK Green/Yellow earth wire or is this irrelevant in a European system?

Also, do i connect the UK wires direct to the Power supply box in the light or into the luster terminal shown in the photo?

I know this is a pain and i'm probably not explaining it well but i can't grow a think in the dark lol. Thanks again in advance to anyone who can help or does anyone have one of these Philips Industria boxes?

To be honest i have no idea how uk stuff works,I only know the color codes for usa stuff.Just found this this should help as far as wiring color codes but where in the ballast they go i don't know.looks like black and blue are neutrals and red and browns are lives. The earth needs to be connected some where to a metal part of the box to keep it grounded. As to where in the box the live and neutral go idk, normally the live connects to the ignitor and socket and the black to the ballast, capacitor if your using metal halide, and the socket.then there should be a wire connecting the ballast and ignitor and capacitor together. But thats just a rough generalization of hid light wiring.
Pre-1977 IEE Pre-2004 IEE Current IEC Protective earth (PE) Green Green/yellow bi-colour Green/yellow bi-colour Neutral (N) Black Black Blue Single phase: Live (L)
Three phase: L1 Red Red Brown Three phase: L2 Yellow Yellow Black Three phase: L3 Blue Blue Grey

Thanks for your help! I'm going to just give it a shot, hopefully i'll 'magoo' my way through it lol. As long as I know that the earth wire has to connect to the casing (usually there's a nut to clamp onto somewhere i'm told) then i've 2 wires left and it shouldn't be too hard. If anyone has wired a European ballast to work in the UK please let me know. In the meantime i'm off to take out the National Grid...

lol good luck magoo..Yea your right the ground should bolt on somewhere.. if you cant find it then just use a screw thats holding some thing to the box:blsmoke:

the uk ground wire which is green and yellow should be connected to ure ballast base (if its metal) or the casing on your transformer (the big metal box that has coiled wire inside). and then it should also be connected to your metal reflector.....

it will work with out this but it is alot safer.

Ive got a buddy that works for an electric generetion company.
He flys to england several times a year to help maintain the facilities.
He'll know. Ill call him and get back to you soon

BTW black/red or colors such as blue yellow signify the HOT wire in U.S. wiring. white is neutral. green is ground

I seriously suggest taking it in to a local Hydro shop, they will be able to either wire it for you (never cost much) or give you detailed instructions.

The problem is every ballast is different, and if you have no idea already, getting a bunch of different opinions on the internet might not help. The absolute LAST thing you would want to do is wire it up and Hope its right, thats a major fire hazard.

if you look closely you should see it labeld fo ryou, L or somthing marked on teh plastic, and the earth is to go to the metal frame near the light, unscrew the screw and wrap it round, then tighten, if you dont understand then let me know and i shall try take a picture for you, its not too hard, trying to sell my light now haha, its way too expensive

The luster terminals are that strip of terminals down the middle (from what i can see from that thumbnail).

But have you checked out all the other specs, voltage etc? Is it 240ac or 110ac?
