I have two 1500 lumens CFL's and three 1200 lumens CFL's in my 2ft by 1ft deep homemade grow box. Germinated my seeds for about a week, planted them roots down, seeds up but just a little dirt over the seeds. Ive been using plant food 10-15-10, i know its weak but it's the only thing i could find. I have tried about 20 seeds, 4 at a time and only one has wanted to grow. I keep 24/7 light and make sure the dirt doesnt dry out. but i don't know why they won't grow. Ive done a lot of reading but nothing to suggest why mine won't grow. my neighbors have theirs under a 20W regular bulb and they sprouted quick, am i just doomed?

drop the nutes till they get about a month or so old.. lil seedlings can't handle all of those nutes, and it just sounds like you are loving them to death, so to speak.. just feed them with plan ph'ed water around 6.3/6.8 or so, or you can just use bottled water if you don't have a ph meter... they don't need much besides light and water for the first month or so of life..
hope this helps you out some..

I agree with racerboy. Its probably the nutes. nutes shouldnt be given to seedlings. Its for the vegetative stage, not seedling stage.
Good luck

it would most deffinetly be that your giving them nutes , the soil that they sprout in should be enuff untill the have established a few sets of leaves, and keep the soil wet just buy spraying the surface with a mist dont pour water on them as it can really hurt

ok Thank you. I have one more question..If they still continue not to sprout right away, how long should i wait before i take the light off them?

you should be germinating with the light off...
Only once it breaks the surface should you put the light on.

I germinate before I plant them.
another factor is seeds. the seeds i bought from nirvana sprouted in 24 hours.

BTW if its too cold, they wont sprout.

Yeah I germinate them in the dark, and let them sprout then plant them and put the light on. But what i want to know is if they dont sprout in 4 days after they are planted am i wasting electricity?

I would wait a week and then toss it. If you say they are already germinated, and they showed a tap root, if they arent up in a few days they arent coming up. But just to be sure i say a week.

ok, I stopped using the plant food but I was thinking of using some of the soil right outside my house. It looks pretty nice, I might try that. So far I have 3 sprouting! They're looking good. Thanks for all the help! Ill try to get pictures up!
