Need I Chang Intensity for Auto Flower?

I'm using viparspectra p1000 at the grow. In the beginning, the light schedule was 12/12 at 60% after 2 weeks I changed it to 24hrs at 60%. Now week 3 need I change it back to 18/6 at 100% to give the plant a rest? It's autoflower.

Rest? 24/0 until flower begins in earnest then 18/6 for the rest works fine. 24 hour light is supposed to retard flowering so the plants get larger before going into flower. Could leave them at 24 hours but it doesn't really make a difference and 18/6 is plenty of light for great growth. My outdoor autos only got about 12 hours of direct light a day and did fine.

:peace:

Overall photon accumulation is more important than percentages or hours in this case. You need to know the intensity of you light over a set period of time to get a gauge on DLI. You want a DLI between 30-50. 1000umol/s over 12 hours is the same as 500umol/s over 24 hours, which is the same as 750umol/s over 18 hours. I've had people carry on about me running 12 hours indoors over summer with my autos, but I'm still giving them more light than they are at 20/4. They are only looking at one metric.

Best bet is to get a lux Meter and multiply the results by 0.017 to get PAR and calculate your DLI instead of using arbitrary numbers such as schedule, percentages and distances. This equation is usually within 5% of a decent par Meter from my testing.

Great way to take something fun and turn it into homework. :D

I've never done any of that stuff and have a house full of pot. I need the cops to show up with a search warrant to find it all.

How did we ever get by growing pot in the prehistoric days of the late 20th century I wonder.

I'll save the calculations for formulating the meds I make from my science-deficient bud. rotflmao.gif

It didn't exactly take much homework or effort. Like 5 mins reading on light Intensity and a $20 Meter. It's a good way to save electricity and heat.

It's sound advice. I don't see the issue. If grade five math terrifies you, feel free to keep going on your way as it also works.

I found out I could save a lot of heat and electricity and still get the same results. When I was going by arbitrary numbers such as distance and percentage, I didn't realise my dli was 65+, and that was the cause of my heat and stress issues.

Some people spend hundreds on hydro setups, nutes and environmental control for fun, I buy a $20 Meter instead and stick with potting mix, cheap tents, slow release ferts and tap water..

Thank you all. I change up the light schedule with an auto to 20/4, I think they need some rest. Will keep watch.
