Need ideas for personal grow

I don't use a carbon scrubber, because I own my home, grow 'legally' and live in the country.

My only fear in your situation living in a more populated spot would be the fact you'll be advertising what your doing and setting yourself up for the potential break-in. But.... sounds like you are surrounded by cool people and prob be all set.

And just as a reference - I just completed my very first grow using 4x4 tent (I have 2 for perpetual), 600 watt mh/hps (turned down to 75% due to heat for a few weeks), 3 week veg and I harvested 390 grams dry. Not stellar by any stretch, but I was relatively satisfied for my first attempt. I hope to harvest 3 plants every month or so.

Good luck to you dude!!

I live in Canada too and we can only hope :). Just saying that there is more to worry about then your buildings tolerance, to weed. Yup we can only hope :). It also depends on where you live in Canada, re getting busted. Here they tend to bust you. 99.9% (a guess lol) would never think to grow without a filter. I take the odd chance with my filter age wise but I live in the country so no one here in colder months, like now lol. They've all gone home. I'm actually going to try and build one next week that I can load bulk charcoal in. You could hold off for a bit as oduor wont be to bad at the start.
Idk, where I live people are incredibly racist and being pale faced in a nice neighbourhood can get away with anything...unless you push it and try to make money off it..then you're busted lol. keep it to yourself and you're fine. it depends on your neighbours too, and I happen to live in a private building that is 420 friendly.

BUT, I am going to look into making one.. for peace of mind ;) and because it might irritate my cat possibly? lol she tends to leave the room when I light up so she might not appreciate the smell of growing herb lol and I also don't wanna reek like it myself everywhere I go , I imagine that would lock on to my clothes and shit. Hadn't thought about that before.

Yeah I am planning to buy a house after the winter...because who wants to move in that weather right? lol Give it 6 months
And I hadn't thought about being robbed by one of my neighbours.... Now I'm gonna lock that shit down lol

Ohhhh that's a pretty nice yield for your first try based on what I've been reading. I'd be very happy with that!! Especially for some really nice PK mmm.

Well like I said earlier you will need fresh air, heat removal, and circulation so you may as well stick a filter on it lol. You have thought about all that right? I tend to jump in and then find out there is a lot more involved with my great plan lol. Example of that would be my foray into high pressure sprayers lol. Way more needed than I bought, shit just kept getting more complicated lol. Then the CO2 thing was a real eyeopener lol. I love to build shit but dont always think it through lol.

Hey guys, looking to set up my first grow. I've been researching about this for over a year now and keep getting discouraged and putting it off...but now I finally wanna buckle down and try it out. I just need a little more direction before I get started.

So, basically what I want to do is a stealth grow in my closet. I can either use the entire closet, or make some sort of cabinet (leaning towards a cabinet). Obviously, like others, my goal is to yield as much as possible. Ideally I would like to yield 200g+ dry every 3 months, preferably 2-4 different strains each round...someone please let me know if this is possible and what my best route would be. Lighting type? How many watts, etc? Autoflower? Scrog?

Anything helps. thanks a lot!
Fuck the cabinet you should just section off the closet to 2-3 sections, one side for Veg one side for Flower, the 3rd one is optional for clones.

Go with some Fem/seeds, Keep a few small mothers of your favorite strains, Fem seeds help with keeping your mothers short, because you don't have to veg them out to find sex, so you can take clones ASAP, and use a few other techniques to help keep them small.

Cloning and putting them in straight flower For an SOG setup you can probably harvest twice as much in 3 months depending on your space
Watch this video, its from an OLD VHS tape, It's old but very useful information, he even shows how to build a decent sized closet setup

Uhhh. Fans & exhaust not enough?

Yup as long as you have enough to handle the heat. And yes man get the filter lol.
will my room be extra hot? how about noise? I dont imagine it would be too loud...but I do sleep in that room and don't want to mess with my sleep.. maybe I should rethink this and set it up in my kitchen as that is the only window in the apartment I can open in the winter. Plus, doesn't PK like colder environment? isn't that what gives it the purple colour?

I'm thinking now maybe I'll make a little larger tent in my kitchen or dining area, and just do a 400-600w scrog. Since I plan to move out in the next 6 to 10 months I don't see a point in starting a perpetual grow yet, because I don't wanna have to move plants with me.....lol

I'm thinking 3x3 or even 4x4 tent if I can make room. 500 or 600w

Something like this...?
https://www.rollitup.org/t/one-plant-scrog-1lb-yield-600w-hydro-first-time-grow.752977/

I imagine even if I just pulled off 60% of what that guy did I'd have enough flower to last me...plus making concentrates with all the extra stuff :)

Do you think it would cause any suspicion running a 600w light and all the fans and such? my normal electric bill is $10-15 per month... that light will probably triple it right there...

*EDIT* just calculated, it would cost $24 per month to run the light. So I'd be jumping from 15 to 40 per month. Do you think that's suspicious? I guess at that point I could just say I cook a lot lol

So I had a talk with a couple buddies and I have almost everything figured out.

Building a grow tent would end up saving me only 50 bucks so I'll probably go with a full setup that you can check out here.
I was wondering if I could grow Cali Purple Kush with Ice Wreck ?? I realize Ice Wreck is not feminized... :/

I guess with all that.. All I need now is soil and stuff? What should I get?

I started off in roots organic soil, most folks around here swear by fox farm soil i tried that for my first grow and it burned my seedling. But I like roots no burning you don't have to feed your plant for at least a month. I mixed up Supersoil that's a bit expensive or you can go hydro and thats a less expensive proposition for you it cost me close to $250 to get all the amendments together then you have to mix and let it sit for 30 days but the advantage is you only need to water your plants all the nutrients are in the soil from start to finish, plus since your doing your grow in soil it's more forgiving if you fuck up it's basically idiot proof, you don't have to worry about PH'ing your water nothing I love it, you just have to lay out the chi-ching for all the amendments, just look up Subcools supersoil, if not you can go the hydro route you do get better yields but you have air pumps, water pumps, mixing chemicals, testing your water so you have to get a PH meter lots to think about huh? Don't worry man we're here to help you but the decision is yours. Don't forget lights, but nothing beats having to smoke your own shit and forget the dealer.

But do your research first before you commit, this mihgt be for you or not. Check youtube, grow weed easy.com, here there's lots of places to get info from. I did my research for months before I committed.

Good Luck

Iam in australia I pay without my 600 about 500 every 3 months with 600w light inline fans and normal fans plus my little clone cupboard that got about 150 w worth of light
Is 700
If I payed what u pay I'd fcking grow with 10 1000w lights lol

lol thats 200 to run 750w total for 3 months so $66 a month thats not horrible.. but yeah my base electric bill isn't much because I rarely have lights on, and rarely cook.. So the only thing using electricity is my fridge and pc which usually amounts to an avg of $12 per month. That easily doubles when I use my A/C regularly though.

And yeah when I buy a house in 2016 I will definitely have a larger setup. probably no more than 5 x 1000w lights though...after that it's pushing it way too far.. 5 is bad enough LOL I can't justify growing that much

I have been doing research for about 2 yrs now on and off and always get discouraged because people either don't give enough info or overwhelm you with way too much info lol having ADHD I learn a lot better with hands-on but I don't personally know anyone who grows.. Doing my best and just asking as many questions as possible to make sure I don't miss anything. I really just want quality bud without breaking my wallet :) but yeah I plan to get that tent kit I linked you guys to a couple comments back and planning to do soil... I did see that a lot of people seem to recommend fox farm. PH is something new to me though, I will have to do my studies on that too lol. thanks brother!

FF is a good soil but it is nutrient rich for seedlings it will burn them, your best bet is to get roots organic soil, comes in a green bag you're good for the first 3-4 weeks without any feeding afterwards transplant then start feeding.

still trying to decide if I'm going with auto flower or not, then I will choose the strain. Hoping to do 2-4 strains. 2 indicas 1 hybrid and 1 sativa preferably :)

Not really in a rush. I wanna do this slowly if that means getting a better return and high quality bud. I firmly believe in quality vs quantity :)
I'm sorry, but in a closet, even with heat being properly removed, a 400W HPS wouldn't even do the trick. Don't over-estimate the grams per watt - it's almost definitely a disaster. Testing will tell you how it really goes.

Now, about that Sativa-strain - it will get BIG/tall, so I would rather recommend a 60-40 (give or take) hybrid, and rest similar-size indicas topped/scrogged.

I'm no pro, neither a complete amateur, but that's what popped into my mind now before my morning coffee. ;)

Yours,

Tom

2, what can I expect if I buy it in spray-form, and spray my plants with it? I haven't searched RIU forums yet for info, sorry about that, but could you possibly try to summarize the advantage/disadvantages? My grow area is 2,5 x 2,5 x 3 metres. In case that makes any difference, thought I'd tell you.

maybe ill grow a couple autos on the side of the big grow in a pc case or something similar..what kind of lighting would I need for that?
:)
Let's say you'll do a stealth-grow, like in a maxi-tower desktop PC-case. You do realize, that the amount of light you'll be able to use depends on a) the size of said tower/box and b) the capabilities to get its heat out (the light), and pref. an intake at 50% power of the outgoing fan (or whatever).
