if were not going to vent to outside and had to vent a room would you want a fan sucking air out or pushing air in? I'm thinking I want to draw air out of the room crating a vacuum bit will this suck bugs and pollen and stuff in from outside?

suck the air out the room, but make the air go through a carbon filter to keep the smell down..or you can pull air into the room, just have the air thats being pulled in go through a bug/pollen filter..if your sucking air out, you want to also push clean air in.

you always want Negative Pressure
Indeed.
beardo you're going to want more force blowing air out of the room than in. But you need an air intake - for air to leave the room, air has to come into the room from another spot. Whether you need an intake fan depends on the size of the intake and the amount of air you're trying to exhaust out of the room. If you're venting into another room then have the intake come from another room.
