Need lamens instructions on how to control pH in my situation....

Hey guys,

I am a newbie and have a sick plant. I'm almost positive that it's due to an acidic soil. The leaves are curling downwards, and it just doesn't look healthy. I got a pH reading, and it's around 5.0. I am pretty sure it was due to the nutes I was using. I am using distilled water, and the pH of that is a healthy 7.0. Last night I flushed it, and the pH didn't move up that much at all.

What my plan is, and I want to know if this is the right thing to do (this is my question #1 to you all) is make my water around a pH of 8.0 to attempt to bring the pH of the soil up in the 6.3-6.7 range, as it's still way too low.

My question #2 is since I just flushed my plant last night, it is still really really wet. Should I wait until next watering (in 5-7 days) to apply the 8.0 pH water, or is this something that needs immediate attention? If immediate attention, should I just water it with the normal amount of water with the pH 8.0 water?

Please help!

Signed,
Confused

I'm sorry, the wifey went out of town with the camera.

If you read my post, I'm just asking theoreotically if:
#1) If I make a 8.0 pH solution is too much for my plant to bring the pH up from 5.0, and
#2) Since I just watered last night as per normal routine, should I wait until next water to correct the pH level, or is it something that requires immediate attention?

well, i'm not too sure about your theories, but one word of advice: pH for soil is something easily controlled if you have the right soil. if you get yourself good quality soil it'll be pH balanced.. i guess for future reference.

I used Miracle Grow from local home hardware store, and I bought the expensive top of the line stuff.......

I think I over nuted, then that made the soil acidic....... when i put my nutes in i put them in full strength - rookie mistake - but now i'm battling back with a low ph soil...... i thought i bought the good stuff!!!!

Try using Dolomitic Lime to raise ph.

Also called Garden Lime, you can pick it up at practically any garden store but you may have to buy it in bulk.

So just mix it in with my feeding water next time I water? Also should I have a target ph for the water with lime or should I just follow instructions and water?
