So I decided to make a PC grow box for something to do, but im having trouble deciding on the lights to use. I have seen these led lights that online that are 10w a piece but how many would I need? They are 30 bucks a piece . I like LEDs a lot though so I thought about getting a couple CFLs as well and having 2 of the LEDs and 2 CFLs? My PC box dimensions are 16" height, 16" length, 7" width. Any help will be greatly appreciated

What, pray tell, are you going to grow in a box that small?

yeah man. leds are great. you want leds with 630 nanometer wavelength (RED) for flower and 400nm ish for veg (BLUE). most come with more than 1 light spectrum though. as for cfl you can use 5000-6000k for veg and 2700-3000k for flower. youre gonna want at least 60 watts of light in order to make a nice bit of herb.

the red spectrum has more photosynthetically active radiation per watt though. so if you needed, you could use red spectrum for the entire grow. i used 2700k cfl for veg and flower. just my 2 cents

The LEDs have both spectrums so they are to be used during the entire grow. But 2 of them will only give me 20 watts

LED's don't operate at their full wattage. I'm not sure what your 10w ones would run at, but it is probably around 5-8 watts. You might want to research the specific ones you are thinking about using.

for cfl there are 2 numbers that are important. Kelvin (K) rating. K determines your light spectrum or "color" of light. then we need to look at watts (W). make sure it says true watts. not equivalent watts. the higher the wattage the higher the yield. every cfl will display both K rating and wattage on the package. the k rating and wattage have no correlation. many growers will tell you to look for high lumens. lumens are irrelevant. more watts = more $ spent = more bud. more kelvin = moret blue light. less kelvin = red light. hope im helping

Nevermind, did some research and I see what you mean
Also during flowering mix the two spectrum to ratio of 4:2
65K:27K
This will stubborn the vertical growth otherwise under only red spectrum the plant will grow vertically as fuck

Even under a scrog net? Cuz that's really the only way to use the limited space I'll have

Yeh even under scrog net there are also people saying it promoted their plants to produce better quality resin heads, it also add extra lumens, and extra G per W

Hmm, I look forward to testing this theory with LEDs and cfls. Should give the lady everything she needs I'd guess
