I have three females measuring about 36 inches tall. Im using a 400w hps in a 2.5' by 3.5 grow area. Temp is good, plants are healthy. Im very familiar with outdoor growing but no so familiar with indoor. My buds are nice and thick. Coated in sugar like crazy. all the bottom branches are peaking through topp of canopy and producing thick buds. They are five weeks into flowering. i vegged them for six. Right now im just running water through the plants to clean out solution from the plant I was only planing on only flowering for six weeks. The problem im having is that these plants look like they are ready to harvest but the pistols are still white. Should i continue nutes until the amber color is present on the pistols? and then rinse?

to answer my own question i clipped a bud from a bottom branch 4 days ago and the pistols are now bright yellow. But all that really did is leave me confused and the more sugar i see present everyday makes me more impatient and confused. I also bought a microscope and broke it. i took the magnifying lense out and looked at the trichomes. They are cloudy but not amber. Any suggestions?

I will try and get pics up.

What strain are you growing, some plants pistils dont turn until drying or curing strain dependent

"Planning on only flowering for six weeks" Never do that.

Sounds like everythings going pretty good though, except for this judgement on flowering. Until anyone sees a pic it'll be to hard to tell. But with you saying it's only been 6 weeks and pistils are still white then I am very doubtful the buds are even near ready.

You know what, the safest and most accurate method would be to check the colour of the trichomes. The "pistil method" is good in it's own right, but some strains have white or even purple pistils- even at the end of flowering. If you check the trichomes and see they are cloudy, then you are good to go.

But like Anon said, you shouldn't plan on how long to flower, some strains react diferently and what not.

Good luck.

EDIT: sorry just re-read your post. So you checked the trichomes and they are cloudy... which is just about right. What of the buds, how big are they? Do they look decent in size?

I would also read up on the characteristics of your strain- if you know what it is.
