So I have a green crack going in a 5 gal bucket. It’s been growning nicely but it’s a orange bucket so I have to change the water every few days because of algae. I plan on getting a black bucket soon for it.

I have some tip discoloration going on and some brown spots starting today also
I did a water change today

I am using 2g per gallon of mega crop
600 watt hps
Humidity is in the 50s
Temp stays mid to upper 70s most days with low 80s from time to time
I also use the recommended amount of calmag and I have been using small amounts of peroxide under the recommended dose
Oh I keep between 5.5 and 6.5. I just let it swing
I don’t know water temps it’s one thing I haven’t checked

Any and all advice welcome

you probably have some root funk going on. have you checked/felt/smelled them lately?

if all your other info you posted is correct, i don't see anythign obvious

maybe bugs? check the under side of the leaves with a scope

I did check the roots today. Everything was green so i rinsed them off to get as much of the algae out as I could. I’ll check better for bugs

I use blue/grey Lowe's buckets with no issues. Can't see how orange would allow that much more light in. Any light leaks from a partially filled/covered netpot? Clear air tubing?

I do have clear tubing and I use a neoprene piece in the net cup to fill it up completely. The orange bucket just seems thin.

Use black tubing and you COULD technically spray paint the bucket black if you have it lying around. Otherwise just buy the bucket cause a can of pint is about the cost of one.

Hell yes spray paint and duct tape. My Broncos orange cloner got sprayed blue to stop the light!

Been there, done that-orange grows really nice algae. Either paint the buckets or get some opaque ones. Try and keep solution temps under control and you'll do fine.
