Need some help please.

hello, I was hoping someone could please help me fix a problem im having. Whenever i look something up on google and i click on the links in the results page it redirects me to some garbage spam sites. Worst of all yahoo is now doing the same damn thing so i cant even look for how to fix it. thanks for any help and sorry if this is a dumb question.

it's not a virus, its spyware. Use Spybot Search & Destroy ( http://www.safer-networking.org/index2.html ). Check your hosts file located in %windir%/system32/drivers/etc/ Theres a file called hosts, click it and open it in notepad. This file can redirect any website, including non existing ones, to an IP address.

Failing that, download hijackthis!, reboot into safe mode run hijackthis! save the report and analyze it at http://www.hijackthis.de/

it's odd, the first 2 times i did a system restore on it today it didnt fix it. however i decided fuck it might as well try one more time making sure that i didnt maybe fuck up and hit a wrong button or choose a wrong option somewhere and im sure i did it all the same each time but for some reason this third time did take care of it.

watch out, some viruses and spyware infect the backups too so when you restore you still have the virus. It might come back.

I had the same problem with FF...I had to stop using it..forgot about spybot...thanks for reminding me...

Pisses me off our idiotic govt is worried about marijuana or scarlet johannsons photos but there are frikkin idiots out there making pc viruses, etc....Seems to be the govt could be doing better things, hmmm...
