Need suggestions on cooling my grow?

The final decision was two fans at the top, along the long dimension of the box, 1 intake pushing air from the lightbulb area into a funnel to gather the air for the output fan. Intake in the picture is at the bottom, the funnel is at the top. When they get bigger i will rearrange the lights up higher in the box, and along the sides......To cover all sides with light. Paper on the sides is white 75weight per lb.

Its very crude right now, will solidify it more in cardboard, or another material.

But it does very well, temps at 83F, though outside air temp has plummited, so it may have something to do with, but not a 20 degree difference in the box in 2days. I honestly figure that the funnel allowed cooling during the day, which allowed lower night temps, giving an overall lower daily temp. Night temps i beleive are down near 75. I beleive this allows for over a few days time the overall temp in the box to drop 15 if not more degrees.....just takes some time to lower the air around it and inside.

I'd honeslty like to get another 8-10" someway, i may try to build a pvc collar around the bottom box and then box it in with aluminum sheet, and allow the lid to sit back down on it. So i have more play with height, which will allow more weight, BUT a longer veg.

what i did is i got a big bottom rubbermaid and my tops the same size as youres

im going to be growing from 12/12 lighting so they wont get tall, i think i can get in 4 plants

but what i did is instead of clam shelling like youres i cut the bottom out of one of the rubbermaids and the top out of the other so when you look at them it looks like they are in storage but really they are almost 3.5-4 feet tall in there

with all wires and fans out the back it works out well for people just walking through my place

worried about the heat, and smell so im building some fans and carbon fliters tonight and tomorrow

Dude you can't have your little pot sitting inside the big bucket. The walls of the bucket prevent air circulation around the plant and the heat builds up. The fresh air is going around the bucket and out the top. It's like a littke oven. The plant has to be out in the fresh moving air.

And make sure you have a fan that blows just on the inside to move all the air around. Hope this helps.

Got a link to some DIY carbon filters? Been looking but havn't found nething so far. Also what size Rubbermaid are you using, i'm wanting to go larger if possible and 3.5-4ft sounds good. Wheras i'm only working with with not even 2ft tall including pot. How large are they going to be before they start to flower, you mentioned 12/12 constantly......how small is this going to be, and how large will it get during flowering (this is what i'm completly unsure on, and would rather now bite off something i can't hande).

you should look into the scrog method...im using a 70" cab that is broken up into 2 32" rooms........perpetual harvest style

ok the way i did it is glue a computer fan to a 4 inch pvc tube that was a funnel to a 2 inch straight tube... its about 6 inchs long and long enough for me to slip in a carbon fliter from a pet store

Well a little update, temps are still constant 83 little lower at night. I had 3 more in cups over the last few days, 2 popped out, gonna ditch the 3rd thats not doing anything. I'm at my max amount i can hold i think. I really only want 2 females, so how can i keep the plants relatively small, sex them, ditch the boys, then let the girls continue to veg, then flower and keep them inside my available space?

truthfully you might just want to consider going to 12/12 and doing the rest of the grow from there, they will get a foot to 2 feet tall depending on the strain

do some research into early 12/12 i think youll be surprised

cause theres a good chance you can get the males in the next 3 weeks... and if theres only 1 female, you can throw other seeds in there are 12/12 and know soon as well

So i aught to just go straigth into 12/12, as of now, my oldest at 1.5wks is at 1.5", the next being 6days behind, and 2 more being just a day old.

I actually had in the last hr or so one pop out, so i have 5. Planning on transplanting a few outside as well.

I'm planning on LSTing them around the pots that i have, is an 8" pot too small for this type of training ((i had thought about LST them this way and then mabey topping it to have 2 LST strands to go around both sides or at different levels) harvest levels at different times), i only have soil up 3/4 of the way in my pot, do i need to repot? AS you can see in the picture the soil is 3" below the edge of the pot which is 7" deep, so i only really have 4" or so of soil.....i take it i do need to repot with more soil for better rooting.

I'd really like to know the sex on them asap, i have 5 in a small space, and only plan to keep the ladies to continue with, 2 mabey 3 if i can keep the 3rd very small, i just wanted my 50/50 odds to weight out in my favor for the time being.

I also bought some 18G sterilite containers for $4 a piece at wallmart, i have another 14" of space for growth, i just havn't had a chance to build it, do you think it will get 2x that size in a week? or larger, mabey i can get it done over the weekend. Also havn't gotten carbon yet for filters.......

you should start thinking about 12/12, cause they get about 3 times bigger then they are

as for carbon filters... go to pet value and get fish tank carbon, throw it in some pantyhose and tape it to your outtake

how bad does it smell

Not very much if any right now, i can get right about 2" from the plant, and smell it, though it isint sweet, more just a fresh plant smell than MJ smell.

I'm planning on training the hell out of it so i'm hesitant to start 12/12 now, in a few days definently. Total height is at 2.25", so if it triples then i'm still only lookin at 9-10" tall, i'm going to do the LST in a spiral, any ideas how much the actual plant fills in though, this is completely independant rather than height.

J/w if there is any way of keeping growth from certain places on the plants, ie clipping off un-needed parts where buds are not, etc. J/w

what side are your pots, from your pictures they seem small

remember you need a lot of pot space to lst properly, truthfully you wont get a circle from it you might get an extra 3-4 inchs thats about it

I can get larger if need be, there not expensive at walmart, i can step up to a 10 or 12" pot, but i have 8" right now.

I will probobly switch over to flower friday. I do wish the others were caught up with the largest to send them all in at relatively the same size, the next largest is 5 days behind, the other 2 i have are another 4 days behind. How large are the plants going to be before they show there sex. I had only wanted 2 females, so i did 4 for 50/50 hopefully. If i keep it in Veg and top it, its going to make 2 heads instead of 1. What happens to the lower areas of the plant?

the lower area of the plants might not get to much light, make sure that cab is full of mylar to reflect it everywhere

easy mylar you can get from the inside of potatoe chip bags, look at my grow thats what i use and light goes everywhere lol
