Need tips on cloning

I have 10 femmed strains and I plan to pick the top 5 to plant as mothers to put in 2 liter bottles then I'd like to make at least 10 clones of each in 12 oz cups under a humidity dome by mid march and was wondering if there is a certain soil that helps promote root growth more than others . I've made clones In the past with straight seed starter and again with just ff ocean forest using a powder root stimulater from home depot.

Also I was wondering how important light intensity is and how much heat plays a factor in rooting clones. I had a few clones die once I think cause they had too much light on them. Would you recommend a heating pad and a few cfls per flat/humidity dome? Any help will be rewarded with rep. Weather you answer questions have tips or send me a helpful link. And if you can recommend a rooting solution that is sold locally I may try it but home depots powder has worked I the past so I'll stick with it unless you can sell me on something else.

I have had the most luck with clonex it is a gel instead of a powder. Also with clones my best luck has come with a bubble cloning system basically a tuperware thingy with holes drilled and a bubblestone underneath. I only grow in soil but for clones this works better than anything I have ever tried. I f you wanna try I can give you more info.

i mean great white shark gel i prefer gels over powders also espicaly for a first time cloner

I'd rather a gel too but don't want to order it and I'm not sure my hydro shop sells it. I've done well with the powder but this time is more important and I'll go ahead and get the clonex I'm sure if it will increase my chances at all of a successful clone. more then i taught a little jar is around $25-35 at a hydro store but a little jar will last as you dont need alot

That's doable. I'm still a new member so I can give you anymore rep at the moment but I'll try to make up for it in the future. And to be honest, the thought of a bubbler is intimidating, I know it's probably easy but I'd be more comfortable dipping them in gel and dropping them in soil. I'd still like to read more about the bubbler cloned though.

low light intensity (a single flourescent tube would suffice).

heat pad is good but not necessary. make sure they're insulated from a cold floor.

clonex gel and clonex solution (but most of the products work fine).

use a humidome. mist it a couple of times a day. start with very little air flow. over the course of 14 days, gradually increase the amount of air flow to the dome.

at day 14, remove the lid and place them under a bigger light.

i use a aerocloner with a cfl. the rooting hormones are up to you. i use clonex and have a 95% success rate most time its 100%.

I did a side-by-side batch of thirty or forty each batch last year, one with rooting hormone, one without. I didn't notice an appreciable difference. Back in those good old days the conditions in the clone area approached perfect so I was getting roots in a week no matter what I did; I'd imagine that if any of the other factors are off (lights, humidity, rootzone temps, sanitation) rooting hormones would make the difference. I still use a liquid IBA but it's a just-in-case thing because it's cheap as hell and can't possibly hurt anything.

you can make your own rooting hormone with a couple aspirin and some dechlorinated tap water. not sure what the ratio is but i've seen the recipe on this site.

I have the clone x rooting gel but somebody somewhere said I need the solution to mix with water and spray with that rather than just water. I'll go aheadand assume I don't need it though. Thanks guys
