Need To Know if Closet Setup is right! Will it fit? HELP PLZ!!

Im starting a new-closet grow. The closet is around 6' in length, maybe 1'-2' deep, and a good 7' or 8' tall. It isnt very deep, but is tall and long. Using a 400w MH/HPS digital ballast with hood and all that, proper mylar, ventilation and all, how many plants would you grow from start to finish using soil, and how would you arrange it? Also, do you think a 400w MH/HPS is good enough to grow around 5-6 plants?

if you mylar the whole inner room it should be fine but you would be better off doing two 150watt HPS so that way i evenly stretches throughout the room. cause 400w is about 4x4 5-6 plants but i think over all you should be fine

how many plant you can fit in there varies on the strain you use. For example, Sensi Star is recommended to put 20 per square meter. Others say only one or two per square foot. Now as far as will a 400 w light be enough, that depends on how much you want to get off of each plant. Yes obviously if you had a bigger light or more lights, your plants would produce more. But if you are asking whether or not a 400 w will grow 5 or 6 plants, then yes it definitely will. In a space that size I would be worried about heat coming off of a HID. Make sure you have plenty of ventilation and if I were you I would use panda plastic instead of mylar. A few reasons for that. #1 In your situation heat can easily become a factor. Mylar does a great job at reflecting lumens but it also reflects heat. #2 Mylar is a little more reflective than panda plastic, but since the mylar is completely reflective it reflects green light where ever the plant is visible on it. Green light spectrum is useless to the plant and so therefore the extra lumens mylar reflects are wasted on green ones.

get an air cooled hood 6 inch and your fine. 6-7 plants at most if not vegged too long. depending also how much room the fan and venting take. you can always tie plants down....

The pic in my Avatar is a room that big with a 400 HPS, I had it on a light mover though. Get a air cooled hood and some CFLs for side light and you will not need the mover. I fit quit a few plants in there if you keep the under 16 in. Any questions fire away, Sorry I hate giving out super specific details on a board like this. JR

Do they make horizontal light movers? Like go on a track the long way? If they do, then I may be able to grow about 10-15 plants easily, because I'll just line them up along the closet, about 5-6 pots long ways, and 2 pots going back which makes 10-12. Thanks for the replies. I already have the mylar, and am going to just use that. I know what your saying about the heat, and I know that's an issue, thats why I went with the 400w instead of 600w. I think I will go for 6 plants with fox farm ocean forest soil and the 400w mh/hps. Veg them until theyre about 18-20" and then switch lights and go to 12/12. Basically, if it was your closet, how would you set it up. What light fixture? How many plants? Thanks in advance!

anywhere from 6 to 24 plants man. 6 plants get 2 sq ft each. 12 plants get 1 sq ft each. 48 plants would get 1/4 sq ft each. assuming its 6x2 and not 6x1... 1 ft and 2 ft are radically different.

for size i have 6"x6" pots and will be in a 1.4m x 1.4m area so that is like 20 sq ft or so and I plan on doing 16 plants keeping them short like 3 ft or 4 ft maximum. 600w hps but I would do the same with a 600w as a 400w since I have a cooltube. so each pot takes 1/4 sq ft but each plant gets 1 sq ft floorspace.

So will I be fine flowering with 6x6" pots? If I could do this, like you said, there would be probably 5 across (not too many across because I want light to penetrate all my plants ALOT) and 2 back, which makes 10. I think that should be good.
