neem oil for gnats, how much neem oil per litre of feed, thanks.

.5-2tsp per quart of water and apply as a foliar spray is what it says on my bottle

i want to add it to the feed, i need to kill the larvae too.

use about 2 inches if perlite on top of your soil

when the pests crawl into the perlite its too rough for there wings and legs and enventually they cant get out of the perlite same with their eggs when they hatch the perlite is too rough for them to take and die before getting out

neem oil doesnt kill anything it is a preventative foliar spray that leaves an oily res on the leaves that pests dont like
just use a little bit of dawn dish soap. it wont hurt your girls

use about tbsp to a gallon of water if you are using benificials then dont use soap it will kill them too

if you are using benificials use azotol or azomax you dont need a lot of it and is about 20 buck in the US

we have fairy washing up liquid for dishes.
and what do you mean by beneficials ?.
i dont understand that part.

like bacteria fungi or mychrihoizea

earth juice rooters mycorrhizae, plant success, A N voodoo juice, FF Microbe brew, great white, and the list goes on and on

thats just the mycorrhizae
they attach themselves to roots and help build stronger roots

i need to speak to you more, i am a noob, my grower has done a runner.

this is getting interesting.

i have brilliant grow rooms that i built in a grow house and 8 female starter plants, the grower called them mother plants, i have been struggling with them, but they look great now, except for the little gnats.

i got the gnats with new soil as the grower started them hydroponically but i was struggling when he got paranoid and fled.

so i put them in soil, they are in 10 litre pots.

i give them half the nutrient solution that is on the label.

i checked online and they all seem to be female when i checked them against pictures on the web.


they have a bit of yellow leaf on the bottom and 1 is a bit droopy but the rest look great.

i repotted them and forgot to put the god damn i.d. tabs back in so now i have 4 barneys farm lsd and 4 others that are mixed up, LOL.

HELP !!!!

maybe its over watering or
what soil did you put them in or are you using if it Ocean forest you dont need to used nute for about 3 weeks then do a week with 1/4 then go to 1/2 again

are you outside or inside and what soil did you start with

i am inside, and i just used a basic young house plant soil with a ph between 6 and 7.
i will give them quarter nutrients now then.

i was underwatering them but i had high humidity at night over 80% that helped bring on the gnats, i started giving them more water and they seemed to burst in to life, they have started flowering too, i will take pictures for you later.

and do you know if i can put washing up dish soap in my water to feed the plants and kill the gnat larvae.

gnats are a real pain to kill! almost as bad as spidermites. a buddy showed me the way after I went nuts a couple yrs ago & gave up after trying everything.
lowes,home depot& most hardware stores sell mosquito dunks to kill mosquitoes. it also works for gnats. here a link

just add a little to a glass or water and leave it near the plants.you can also add to the water you are giving the plants. when infested,I did both & it cleared them out in about a week.now I keep a small glass in the room all the time as a preventive measure.

they are 6 weeks old.

as you can see in pictures 1 to 3 the 4 mixed strain plants look healthy but in the last 3 pictures the barneys farm look wilty, droopy, and the leaves feel very dry.

but i water them all the same amount.

Buy a bottle of purge at your local hydro store. Go to home depot and buy one of those automatic spraying things you see in bathrooms that automatically goes off every 15 minutes. (its meant for air freshener)

You will never see another bug again... guaranteed.

Fungus gnats cant hurt your plants, its the larvae in your soil that hurts the roots.

neem oil i see as more of a preventative measure as it is not instant knockdown, it is a systemic that needs to be absorbed by the plant and given time to effect the bugs you are treating. IT will help against the gnats but will take a bit of time to effect them as it will retard their growth and inhibit reproduction. BUt this may take a few weeks to see results.

It is very true that the flying gnats are not the problem, the problem is the larvae that feed on your roots and they can also spread diseases.

I personally would recommend something along the lines of NillNats, Gnatoff or my tried and tested method SPINOSAD.

Depending upon where you are in the world the above will be easy or hard to come by. In the UK NillNats and Gnatoff are pretty easy to come by at a hydro store. The spinosad however in the UK you cannot get. I order mine from the US Ebay. All of the products i have mentioned above are for medium application but the spinosad can be used as a foliar. All the products are based on bacteriums that kill the larvae.


Get yourself some yellow sticky traps and hang them around your area and also stick some to your grow bags.

on my first fungus gnat problem I hung Sticky White Fly Traps to catch the adults while I let my plants dry out for a few days. Then I crushed 2 Mosquito Dunks and put one in a tray of water like mrmadcow suggested and I put the other on top of the soil on one of my plants and only watered that one. It eventually worked, but took several days. I had to bottom feed my other plants for the next 4-5 days I had another fungus gnat problem about 8 months later and used Sticky White Fly Traps for the adults. I used AzaMax as a soil drench (@ 1.5 Tablespoons / gallon of water for a 0.6% solution. The label says 1 tablespoon / gallon for a 0.4% solution for fungus gnats, but I hate those things so I went a little heavy on the mix. Drench the soil in the pot with 1 pint of your mix per 1.0 gallon of soil.) and my gnat problem was over.

use ocean forest soil to start

then ask one of you local hydro stores for a nute that has a ph buffer in it for soil
make sure your ph is closer to 6 then 7

make sure you see some run of when you water

it might kill them dont use too much though
