are you placeing them on a mesh that go's into the fat at the samew time as dognuts, its real easy to knock them and they go flat n heavy. so carefull handeling is required. enjoy
I have a basket for the fryer but I think I'll cook the holes with it. The donuts will be free floating and I'll turn them with a screen scoop we used for stir fry. They'll get set on a cooling rack before being dusted with cinnamon sugar.

OK, first observation, the cutter needs to be used on both sides or the holes won't come out.

Second observation, the holes are a PITA to get to roll over in the fryer. I cooked them a little long to make sure they were done, they cook fast. I'll go for golden next time.

I'll try one in a couple, my back says it is time to sit for awhile.
Seed starter pad worked fine to proof them, lol.

I've always wanted to try making donuts. Great job! I think I may try apple fritters some day. :bigjoint:

They taste like donuts. They are a little tough, probably overcooked them a bit. I may have shorted them a bit on yeast also, the recipe called for 2.5 tsp and the package said it has 2.25 tsp approx. I'll measure it next time, yeast is cheap. Finding a better way to proof the dough after cutting might help also. Might need to cover them to keep more heat in or set the pad on top of another cookie sheet. Definitely edible though.
