New and looking for some tips from the gurus

Hey there

I'm just about to start my first grow and am looking for some tips or corretions ( I am a noob at this so I'm sure it will take some time to get things going smooth).

What I have so far:
lighting:
1 UFO led light from hid hut
2 green compact floresent

Seeds:
i picked up some joey weed's northern light X Cinderella 99 from hemp depot

other stuff:
- a timer

my grow location:
I am going to use my closet which is 3x8x7 (aprox).

I have found so many diffrent article saying how to grow, none of them seem to be from A to Z and offten one will say one thing and another will totaly say something else.

I plan on just growing in dirt, I have pick what mix I want to use and am going to pick it up today.

Any tips for closet grows?? Most things I see are about fansy growrooms with fans and drip trays etc. I think that's all over kill for what I want to do. Are fans important for closet grows?? Led's done give off as much heat and the strine I picked is said to be low smell which is good for an apartment.

Good ventilation and airflow is one of the most overlooked things by new growers. Make sure you get a small oscillating fan at the very least so you can keep air moving in your closet. It will help prevent mold, bugs and it will help strengthen your plants stems. Best of luck my friend and welcome to RIU!

Soil + Closets+any lights = humidity
Soil + Closets + any lights + humidity = mould issues
Soil + Closets + any lights + humidity + mould issues = NO FANS
Air movement is essential for healthy growth, whether or not smell is an issue depends on your situation-you decide. A fan is a MUST. G LUCK

I grow in a closet about the same size as yours. you definately want a fan or 2, led's might not get hot but its summer and temps get pretty high in my closet, plus fans will help strengthen the stalks. my only advice would be to get CFLs or a HPS lamp for flowering, LED's are for veg and your plants will be SUPER stretchy if you use them from start to finish.

I'm by no means an expert, but i can read! LOL

Keep everything clean! Tools, the walls, EVERYTHING. Closets seem to have more problems than dedicated grow rooms.

Seal everything up as much as possible and put Mylar film on everything. LED's aren't strong so you'll need every lumen you can get.

Keep the temp. and humidity in check. Fans are a must. As for odor control, thats your call. Better to be safe than sorry is what my momma told me. I stick to it.

Don't over water or over nute.

Quality equiptment + quality strain + some education = Killer bud.

#2, Spray the entire area, floor and walls with a good pesticide like Home Defense. I see a new post EVERY day here, HELP, SPIDER MTIES.

theycallmejo was right on too, great post!
