New build, planning phases

I finally get to pull the trigger on my own home grow, yay.

I have an outdoor shed that I use for storage. I am going to put a box (old corner cabinets, double stacked). The space will be 9 sq ft and around 6 feet tall.

I planned on the following relating to my lighting :
2x CXA3590-0000-000R00CD0E1 5k
2x CXA3590-0000-000R00BD30F 3k
1x HLG-185H-C1400B
4x ARCTIC Alpine 64 GT Rev. 2
1x Aluminum Rectangle Tubing, 2"x3"x1/8"

And of course the various objects that nickel and dime you to death to connect everything up.

I want to mount this in an "H" shape, Driver mounted on the connecting line on a 6" plate. This feels like it should give me an adequate spacing for the lighting. Is this going to be enough to produce well? Am I not using my space well enough lighting this way?

Only asking so I do not sink a good chunk of change into something that doesn't get the job done.

Use aluminum angle bar. Not rectanglw. Your Arctics will sit nicer in it. Driver is correct. But not to sure what distance you even plan on between each one?

Thanks for the tip on the Aluminum angle bar - I will give that a look.

I planned on 24" pieces on the outsides of the "H". I am not sure on how much spacing to give them, but my 3x3 box limits how far apart they can be.

If it's 3x3, do equal spacing between everything. And 24" is just fine.

Space them 1 foot apart in a square pattern. It's a perfect fit.

This won't work. The COBs you posted are 72V version. You'd need HLG-185H-C700B. And it's not a perfect match since the voltage of CXA3590 is too high for the driver to run at full current (but it will be close). CXB3590 can run on HLG-185H well (either 4x 36V @ 1400ma or 4x 72V @ 700mA).

You are completely correct - I must have been adding them in and out so much I forgot which ones I left in my cart. I can't tell you how many hours I have been putting into this lol Thanks for the catch!

The aluminum angle can be had at Lowe's or Home Depot relatively cheap. I'm researching my own light build too. Do you think 4 cob's is enough light for your space? Seems "lite" to me. That said, I don't know much other than what I've been watching others do.

I found a place called buymetal.com that was selling a 6 foot piece of 2"x 2"x .125" for 13$. I did not have a chance to look at shipping yet.

I originally wanted to go with about 8 COB's but the price would have gotten me murdered in my sleep and that's just a stupid amount of power for me. I would have gone 5 if the driver could handle it. Toss another 3k in there.

I think overall the amount of light is going to work just fine. It may not cover from top to bottom completely, but it will give good coverage to the canopy for sure.
This can be 44000 lumens or so at peak, 35000 sans 20% . That's almost enough for 4k lumen/sq ft. It's also 137*4 = 548 watts. Minus 20%, 440w. Great saturation is 40 watts per sq ft, I am just shy of 50 per, which passing 50w per sq ft (imo) becomes a waste of wattage, diminishing returns. Need more room for the plants to grow than power at that point.

Hexal, yeah after reading the forums instead of the hardware store I went to a local metal supply house
in my area. 1x1x.125 angle was $30 for 25 foot stick. Heavier and better price than any hardware store. Worked great on my Rosewill cpu heatsinks. You will be blazing with 50 watts a sqft, my max be 40 watt sqft. GL OG
