hey everyone i started my second grow this year For leds i will be using a Blackstar 500 and a 147w ufo.
For HIDs im running a 600w metal halide for late veg and Hps for Flowering.
For nutes im using general organics.
My lovers are:

Kiss From a Dragon
Northen Lights
White Widow
Lemon Skunk
Snow White
Blue Dream
Papaya
Purple Maroc
Bubble Gummer

Cool setup, you'll be pulling in some nice yields with the hid + led combo. But you are aware that your blackstar 500 doesn't actually pull 500w, right?

i have basically the same setup and tried mixing my HPS with the blackstar 500 and found that the difference in height requirements was more of a pain in the ass than its worth.

basically the blackstar has to be so close to the plants it blocks most of the HPS light which would burn the crap out of them if you hung it at the same height.

depends the angle of the lights if you put the leds diagonal in a lower postion towards the canopy, and the hps above the opposite side you should get something that looks like this.

Nice setup you will do well, I was using a mix of LEDs+HIDs before I made the switch to 100% leds, I got some nice buds !!

llculusX: The blackstar doesnt need to be so close, not because you can't see the light (from the 600watt overpowering it) that it is not there, you would have been better off with the blackstar far from the plants so that the plants get all of the 600w hps as well.

Nice setup, You should be pleased with the LED+HID combo and pull some good results.
Nice variety of plants as well (I love Blue Dream). subbed!

Hey everyone the oldest sprout is around 1.5 weeks, and kiss from a dragon, blue dream, and lemon skunk sprouted a bit late.

.Update. 12 hrs with blackstar and 12 hrs with 147w.

hps you are going to yield more, but mh will give you better quality over quantity, and led are overall much more efficient in electricity and tempature, so i think leds fall in the middle of both

Patience is the key. I always wait to see a green carpet to change cycles i start 24/7 then 18/6 and do the count down 17/7, 16/8, 15/9 etc until you reach 12/12, to simulate the shorten days of the season so you don't stress the ladies and get hermies!
