New Grow Journal.

Ok.. new place, new space - new challenges.

First is my Mother Cabinet.

I have had my own seeds going for 5 weeks.
Some are doing great, others, have issues. I now know that the water here sucks. You will see some early plant damage due to that. I actually tried rain water for my last res change in desparation, and the plants seemed to love it. I am saving up for RO - likely at very least a brita system to pull out the chlorine first.

OK - pics and set up.

I had already built a mother cabinet, but had to re-vamp it, do a res change and clean, and move plants around thought I'd throw a grow journal together for input and recollection.

There is a peak behind the curtain before I start.

That being said, you may want to skip this post if you aren't interested in rambling.

I just moved. I have a small house now. My options are limited - as is my space for growing, so I am having to re-design my whole way of doing things - and likely going to run into all kinds of problems along the way... this will be a good place to figure things out - if I can keep up with it.

I am planning a 2000 watt vertical grow with vertical veg and mother cabinets.
I cracked my seeds 5 weeks ago. Moved 3 weeks ago. So I had to slap up a mother cabinet to keep the plants going. Tonight I did a res change, and thought I"d fix a few things and maybe get some insight from other growers.

OK..
I have a basic cabinet built.View attachment 1809822
Here you can see some of my space limitations as well...
the mother cabinet is in use on the left, and the rack on the right is going to be a veg wall for 48 plants.

I didn't take pics of the initial construction of the cabinet or the top feed unit I made for it... so here is an idea.

I found the reflective mats at the dollar store. They are beach mats that have mylar on one side for a buck... won't tear, or wrinkle. Alot like the sun shades for cars, but way bigger, and better.
You'll notice all the holes drilled out of the bottom wood part.. it allows better air intake than one large intake hole... there are quite a few cracks I didn't seal in the lower part of the unit to allow for all the passive intake I could get, and could likely still use more.

That is a pic of the beach mat's I'm using.

I made a top feed irrigation type tote for the space, and can fit 12 3 gallon pots in it...
These are deep lids... it'll hold 5 gallons of water in it... I just flipped it upside down and it fits in a grove already in the tote for stacking them like that. Drill a few drain holes, and it voila...
There is just a pump and a few airstones in the self contained res..

Anyway...

I am using a 250 watt HPS - going to swap it for a MH in a month or two.

I have the light about 8 inches from the top of my plants.

I vent out the top using an inline vent booster fan. The top of the cab is also goin to get built up as a clone area.

whole unit is 24"x33" and is on castors as well.

Well, I filled up the res, ran all the lines, and put the plants back into the cabinet..
one last shot before I call it a night...
