new grow room, new country, minimal english

So I find myself in a far off country designing a new setup. However parts are not easy to come by and compromises need to be made... I've managed to get my hands on most things, but have some issues I need to clear up.

1) 400W HPS (standard bulb not specific for growing, prob? maybe add cfl for blue spectrum?)
2) 25l clear buckets (can I use black spray paint to stop the light?)
3) 220cfm fan - quite big for my purposes but all I could find (worried bout the noise, it says it runs at 49db, how loud is that?)
4) Netpots - see pic, had to improvise, will this work?
5)Cupboard lining - no reflective wall coating available, so got some white wall paper I'll stick on. maybe paint wallpaper with reflective paint?

At the end of the day, I'm not looking to win the Cannabis cup here, but I do want healthy, happy plants.

Any input would be great, I'll post some pics upon completion. Thanks

PS - its been 2 years since my last grow, I used to use overgrow.com as a forum, what happened to them?

i wondered much the same thing about OG. never bothered to ask though.

if your hps will work would depend on it's spectrum.
your buckets will work painted. you just need to make sure no light gets to the roots.
49db will be audible, but not loud. average conversation is mid-low 70's.
white paint is the best reflective coating. forget the wallpaper. get a couple good coats of white paint and that will be perfect.

welcome to RIU, by the way.

Thanks shad0h, as the house is rented, had to wallpaper, but painted flat white over that. Also, for a small fortune I managed to get a 400W Son-T Agro bulb. What I was using last time, worked well for me.

Otherwise got everything I need now... just waiting on the seeds and the ballast (2 least important things :bigjoint:). But all should arrive within the week.

As far as the box goes: nice n stealthy. bottom section is flower room, top section is clone/mother. Size is almost exactly 1m x 1m (adjustable height). Hopefully the fluro's at the top will be enough for 2 small mothers. If not its back to the store. Took a while, but everything is light tight now with zero light leakage.

Passive intake from aircon'd room next door. Cool hooded light extracting though carbon filter into different room from intake.
2x 25l DWC, Standard fan for circulation.
Mothers will be in soil in the top beside bubble cloner.

Seeds: Aurora Indica. Gonna grow 5, take cuttings, dump em in the bottom to sex. Keep the hottest babe, toss all the rest (if there are any). Lastly, clone again (4 little ones), then scrog it.

Cheers for reading. Feedback most welcome and appreciated!

I hope the laws in that country are not too harsh. It would suck to get your head chopped off for growing :hump:

Actually its just an apartment, but there's no noise, no one would guess twice, even if u you were sitting in the room.

Yamin - yeah nutes are a tricky one. Did some research and going with what I think looks best, but still untried, untested. Gonna be good to test it anyhoo.

Boneman - Unluckily the laws here pretty harsh. Trafficing punishable by death. Though I'm not planning on selling, and shouldn't be putting out more than 400g every 3 months. Prob just get tossed out (hopefully). Lets just hope it never comes to that.

I would have just used a normal HPS bulb, it's been used many times over and over you wouldn't have had a problem unless it was a weird spectrum. I would assume it was a normal HPS bulb. A horticulture bulb loses some lumens to get in the color spectrum but the normal bulb has more lumens because it isn't trying to get into that color spectrum. So it turns out to be a dead heat becuase the normal bulb is brighter so the color difference gets offset, and the horticulture bulb is less intense but is the right spectrum so they pretty much even each other out.

Also, facing the death penalty I think I'd wait till I got back into friendlier lands, especially if you are a foreigner, they may make an example out of you. Too much risk, the silliest thing could happen and you are busted. Think Hard my friend, we don't want anything happening to you.

thanks la9. I have put much thought into it and I feel the risks are fairly low. Wouldn't be doin it otherwise.

Seeds have finally arrived, soaking as we speak.

Anyone have an idea of fluro wattage needed to sustain clones, and what wattage for say 2 small mums (will keep em bushy at about 10 or so "s)

Cheers

Planted 7 seeds (soaked for 12 hrs then paper towel). All 7 showed small taproots after 12hrs. Left them for another 12 then planted.

Have left them in the dark for 12 hrs, and just turned on the light (18/6). They haven't yet popped up, is this too early for lights? (2x25W fluro).

Thanks fellas/fellarettes
