new grow setup

I am going to be starting my first professional real-grow soon. I have completed an attempt at a grow but wasn't as successfull as it should have been. The plant was sick from over nuting' / water. A common mistak by newbs. So to correct my newbness i figured out what was wrong and saved the plant, but in the end most of the leaved died and it's flowering right now with a few leaves. Buds are starting to form on it, at least I didn't kill it.

Well I am starting fresh, I figure if I did okay before my fuckup last time maybe i can make good this time. I compiled a list of materials I need to make a "Good" attempt at growing. Feel free to add anything that you think I may need. I am going to take pictures ducumenting my attempt.

list:
Grow light setup
foil or reflective non-flammable material
extension cord with breaker
soil
Ph meter
Ph boost/decrease solution
spray bottles
fresh water

Now my setup will be in my closet. I have a slider closet but its pretty roomy inside. I work as a tile setter so later on I will be making a few sheets of plywood and will ceramic tile them on one side to enclose the grow area. That would provide excellent heat control (it's winter and i live in the mountains) and i can still foil some parts for reflectiveness.

I am already starting to make the area. When I am finished I am hearing that seedlings should be on like a 12hr on 12hr off schedule, is that right?
I think I am gonna choose to do 7pm-7am, I am home and awake during more than half that time so I can be observant to anything. Plus its dark in there and I am going to try and ventilate it well.

Anyways thats my idea.. Instead of throwing some seeds in soil and watering them I am going to try and yield something nice. Any help / ideas for a closet grow then please leave a comment. Sick of the risk of buying bud in my state. I'm 26 and have been to Jail and have no desire to go back. I hope its legal here someday lol.

sounds good mate, wish you luck.

would recommend that you buy an inline air cooled HPS light and hook it up to a 4-5'' fan for super cool growing conditions - heat is your main problem in a cabinet grow. Add a 8cm mains powered pc cooling fan for your intake fan. Perhaps think about adding a filter if have visitors. How tall is the cabinet? if not that tall stick to indica indica/sativa cross.

seedlings should be on 24/0 or 18/6 light cycle until floweering , which is 12/12

good luck

Here is the space I have to work with. Not too bad, Like 4-5ft high and ample
width, and since it's in the closet and i dont have many visitors i can leave it open a few inches, plus that will eliminate over heating. When I get some money Im going to buy the rest of the setup. Anyone know any sites with good, reliable, somewhat affordable lighting?:joint:

okay ill lose the foil. My brother owns a glass shop here so im gonna have him cut me some mirror ! =P Yah she said yes, we were pretty much hitched as it is. 4 years of dating/living together.. now were almost legal lol. Yah my next check i am gonna buy the lighting and get started. What kind of light would be inexpensive and effective in that space? Its winter here but i keep it at least 73-75 degrees here 24/7 so i prolly wouldn't need a warming light eh? Anyways gimmie some advice =) I wanna get started so bad ahah
PS I GOT HER TO SMOKE LIKE TWICE NOW! She grew up mormon (i know i know) but she lost the churchiness in her teens but shes never smoke anything. It was quite funny. I even had to hold the pipe. Then when it was half gone she coughed and expelled the bowl like 3 feet and i had to carpet commando and find that shit lol.

mirror isn't a good idea either it waste more light then it reflects. white paint or mylar will work perfect.even if you can find mylar wrapping paper that will work but no foil or mirrors. good luck:blsmoke:

Go to 1000bulbs.com buy yourself a 400w hps ballast for 70 bucks and a bulb for 7. then go to the harware store spend a max of 2o bucks for the cord and mongule base, and the plug that goes in the wall(cant think of what its called right now im stoned, lol) u can puy all the mylar you need for $1 from a Dolar store and its better and cheaper than paint. Add in pots, bag seed, soil, water, thermomoter, Sometybe of glass tube to make a cool tube for your light( see diy) . some fans and you have your whole set up for well under $250 wich is about what you would pay, if not more than that, for the light itself at a grow shop
